Drexciya reissues (and other Drexciya related stuff)

Back on the original ILM Drexciya thread there was some talk that Clone was gonna reissue Drexciya's early, hard-to-find recordings. Well, now they've released the first (of planned four) compilation of that stuff:

While I'm happy to finally get these tunes on record, I have to say that the packaging of the comp is pretty weird. First of all, the CD comes in a book-size digipak that's about 1/3 taller than a regular CD case, but it doesn't have a booklet or any other extra material that would justify the odd size. Secondly, instead of compiling Drexciya's singles and EPs in chronological order, Clone have decided to put 1-3 individual tunes from various releases that came out between 1993 and 1997 on this record (and even these individual tunes are not in chronological order). Since there's gonna be three more comps like these, I assume everything up until Neptune's Lair will be compiled, but I see no logic in this seemingly random way of putting the tunes together.

As for the music itself, it's exactly what I expected it to be, i.e. great-sounding minimal aquatic techno, so I'm still grateful to Clone for this project. Still, I'd love to hear why they decided to do the comps this way...
