Can't believe this doesn't exist on old-ILM. If it does I couldn't find it.

Anyway, search Ace of Spades, obviously, No Sleep Till Hammersmith's good as well. Never could get with Another Perfect Day. Haven't heard Orgasmatron in years, should try listening to that again.

It does exist. And it'll be back soon. But for now, RAAAARGH.

Saw 'em once at the Stone Pony in NJ - spent entire next day feeling like someone was holding a pillow over both my ears.

And it'll be back soon.

Make that HOORAAAAYYRGH!

"you're full of shit and trying to be hip by liking that" answer:

1916 is totes underrated!

Yes. That record has No Voices In The Sky, their best song.

rs kron (kornrulez6969), Monday, 4 December 2006 18:44 (seventeen years ago) link

If "No Voices In The Sky" >>>> "Ace of Spades" then it may be the greatest song ever recorded.

Nu-Edward III (edward iii), Monday, 4 December 2006 18:52 (seventeen years ago) link

It's subjective, of course. But if you like Ace of Spades there's no chance you won't like No Voices In The Sky.

Has Ph1l got all of Motorhead's albums?

KeefW (KeefW), Monday, 4 December 2006 23:45 (seventeen years ago) link

"Iron Fist" (the album) also belongs in the "underrated" category.

Has Ph1l got all of Motorhead's albums?

no! he's surprisingly nonchalant about them, actually.

grimly fiendish (simon), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 01:09 (seventeen years ago) link

There are no bad Motörhead records. Underrated: Another Perfect Day, Rock 'n' Roll, Overnight Sensation.

Phil Freeman (unperson), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 01:16 (seventeen years ago) link

Underratedness of Iron Fist et al seconded. (And neglect not Hawkwind nor the Pink Fairies, for that matter!)

Myutiny Von Bounty (Monty Von Byonga), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 08:20 (seventeen years ago) link

If you're searching for the first time, No Remorse is the one.

whoop de doodle (kenan), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 08:29 (seventeen years ago) link

No Sleep Till Hammersmith's good as well

"good" does not do it service. It's fucking awesome.

whoop de doodle (kenan), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 08:32 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm not that keen on the s/t and On Parole stuff, compared to what came after.

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 09:23 (seventeen years ago) link

On Parole may not be the balls overall, but its few great moments are just blindingly awsome. Hell, the title track is one of the best damn tunes in their catalog.

And I wanna stand up for Another Perfect Day while I got the chance. Not the greatest album they ever put out (take your pick from Bomber, Overkill, Ace of Spades, and No Sleep 'til Hammersmith for those laurels), but right up there with the best of 'em. I like the pop songs, and I LOVE the dragged-out evil shit like One Track Mind.

Motorhead! 12" Single! Chiswick Records!

You don't need a turntable, just wave it and hear the grooves play against the Wind!

M Grout (Mark Grout), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 16:59 (seventeen years ago) link

The newest one is pretty good, albeit containing one track that sounds like Status Quo

Feargal Hixxy (DJ Mencap), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 17:12 (seventeen years ago) link

that's cool pictures of matchstick men rulez

GAWD PVNCH (yournullfame), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 17:14 (seventeen years ago) link

I really tried to like Another Perfect Day - both when I bought it in '83 and in subsequent years - but it never happened for me. Do love "One Track Mind" though.

The first s/t album strikes me as thin production-wise. Have the same problem w/ the first Iron Maiden album. Am intrigued by No Parole, though. Larry Wallis? Feckin' 'ell.
