... So, it seems they wiped the episode where the person who came up with the name "Legs and Co" got their 2 mins of fame. So, they (she? I think I recall..) got no more.

Also, it means no "Teenage Depression". So, the 1976 "punk highlights" DVD stops there. I captured Slik's "The kid's a punk", Can's "I want More" and Ed&HotRods' "Get out of Denver" (the main reason for the undertaking), along with Bolan's "Laser Love". In retrospect, I wish I'd saved the Ruby Flipper/David Bowie dance, but ach.

Anyway, I checked the 'surviving ep details' on PopScene website, so nothing is happening until May, when Ed&Rods do "I might be lying" and The Jam and Strangers are on.

Gutted to find that Television's "Prove It" has been wiped, because I'm sure I must have missed that at the time as I have no memory of it, and I'm sure I would have if I'd seen it.

I'm afraid I can't believe that actually happened until I see it with my own eyes. Prove it!

someone's post from Punknet:

If anyone remembers the Television performance but doesn't have a copy of it then I'd be interested to hear your memories of it. The track is 5 minutes long and so would no doubt have been edited to around 3 mins. I have also heard rumours that it was performed live in the studio as opposed to the usual miming to a backing track.

Noo! Say it wasn't so!

Maybe it was playing in the background to a chart rundown or something, I don't know, there's no way Tom Verlaine ever appeared on Top of the Pops

Tony Hart land (Deep in the Tony Hart land), Friday, 2 December 2011 11:11 (twelve years ago) link

Or maybe they were scheduled to appear and there was a strike or they just said, "What, you kiddin' me, I'm WALKIN' here, I'm WALKIN'!"

Right, I have sent a message to a past ILXor who would know about this...

Failing that, does anyone have Tom Verlaine's phone number?

Any resolution vis a vis Television?

Anyone else notice that the top Jimmy Savile was wearing was half a Celtic top and half a Rangers top?

Yes Noel, I'm sure that a singer with the same name as notorious serial killer is going to have a great 1977.

funnily enough, that was his only chart hit.

He had a 'good' January 1977 anyway.

I enjoyed the Charlie Chaplins dancing to Stevie Wonder, and the Mike Oldfield "video" was pretty lol too.

Went back to Worcester for the weekend and inspired by the proper ILX thread I brought my grandpa's Fox LPs back with me. I have no idea what they sound like.

What, in Liverpool, in the 70s? Unless it's a protest song.

Here's spoddy teenage Midge Ure and his mates (possibly sponsored by Gibson), followed by two twunts with beards (DLT and Edmonds), and then it looks like they've found that Elton/Kiki clip again.

Dermot O'Leary is playing some beats/at night he's a TV presenter (snoball), Tuesday, 20 December 2011 20:16 (twelve years ago) link

And in this episode, DLT and Noel will not be allowed to interact with a studio audience in any way, being as this is a clips show and they're CSO'd in. Meanwhile, JJ Barrie looks like a cross between John Belushi and Louis Walsh.

Meanwhile, The Real Thing's lead singer appears to have got dressed in the dark.
