and i don't think slapping the label "white" on a white australian and a russian jew is that helpful (why are people so reluctant to address kreayshawn's race?)

ok heritage, whatever, stop playing dumb unless you wanna argue kreayshawn and gwyneth paltrow are coming from the same cultural place here

coming from the same cultural place has nothing to do w/ whether or not someone is white
― joey joe joe junior shabadoo, Tuesday, 27 December 2011 22:04 (twelve years ago) link
well, i dont mean to go that far. but they're overlapping ideas, not completely reflective ones
for all intents & purposes, in the u.s., both artists are white
the caption "Kreayshawn has a slow and cutesy approach to rapping." >>>> the article

discuss: princess superstar is hands down the best white female rapper who ever lived and that's an indisputable fucking fact
on the evidence of this mixtape it's certainly not iggy azalea, at any rate

I just can't read "she samples indie groups like the xx and the Vines and talks about alienation" without wanting to peel my eyes with a salt-coated potato peeler.

there are a lot of rap critics from the 90s that i don't want to hate on their recent writing but they give off such an 'old man in the club' vibe
― some dude (Mr. Stevenson #2), Thursday, 29 December 2011 02:15 (twelve years ago) link
it's not a good article, correct.

Man what does the gun sounds crew think of Action Bronson? I miss being able to search real ilx right now. I just heard the album with Statik Selektah today and really kinda liked it, but I'm trying to figure out if its just because I miss having new Ghostface now or not. Really liking the production on this one tho. How does Lecter compare?
― shakur rump (I left my login in El Sandboxo), Saturday, 31 December 2011 02:17 (twelve years ago) link
Lecter's better imo. More hardcore but I like both a lot

cannot bring myself to give a shit about Action Bronson, the ghostface thing is too much for me
― I am womansplainer hear me roar (Shakey Mo Collier), Saturday, 31 December 2011 04:33 (twelve years ago) link
yeah i mean, i like him, but i don't take him very seriously, and anyone saying hes the best of what 2011 has to offer in terms of rap music is nuts.
― joey joe joe junior shabadoo, Saturday, 31 December 2011 04:34 (twelve years ago) link
it is telling that no one gives a shit that he's dropped nbombs on records released as recently as last year
wait people are saying he's the best of 2011? that's just sad. not that 2011 was a banner year for rap or anything.
― I am womansplainer hear me roar (Shakey Mo Collier), Saturday, 31 December 2011 04:40 (twelve years ago) link
i've seen a bunch of places talk about how 2011 is like the best year for rap in ages. its b/c so much stuff is online now that no matter your particular taste you can find some corny niche to fit your needs, no matter what the quality. people are stupid imho
― joey joe joe junior shabadoo, Saturday, 31 December 2011 04:50 (twelve years ago) link
I ... guess? I dunno I don't really listen to rap that way. I mean there are certain things that appeal to me but I am not inclined to focus on a particular sub-strata. my fave stuff this year was probably Curren$y, Kool G Rap, E-40 + some other random old stuff I was catching up on
