I'm just saying I've never heard anyone in the NW ever use the phrase "craft beer".
And I haven't heard anyone say "microbrew" in years.

Note: I am not living in the 90s.
i have never heard 'craft beer' in conversation ever, have not heard 'microbrew' much but then i don't really want to live in a world where people talk about what they're drinking beyond a "what'll you have?" or "i have some ____ in the fridge if you want any"

yeah i haven't heard 'microbrew' in years. now i think most ppl just refer to beer by its name (ala "i have some ___ in the fridge"). honestly with the ppl i hang out with, the term i hear most is 'good beer' or 'decent beer.' like, "i'll get a case of pbr but you might want to get a sixer of something decent, too." esp since now you can get stuff that's like maybe $1-2 more a six-pack than PBR, miles better, and available at the gas station (if you live in some enlightened state where beer can be purchased in gas stations).
i think too if you live some place with a lot of local breweries then the novelty of drinking something other than bud or pbr has long since evaporated and ppl just get w/e they like or is on special

such a good derail. anyways - i think once people get into a local microbrew (people still say that up here) the tendency is to stick with it, or failing that something equally snobby/expensive.

"Craft beer" seems p. widespread to me, from restaurant menus to local media features.
In conversation, though, I think I mostly say it when I'm referring to a bar or restaurant, like "They have a decent craft selection." (Though I might also just say, "They have a good beer list.")
