OH MAN!

I just remembered my fav twist ending...on "Midnight" by Ice-T (off the OG album)...he has a big adventure all night where dudes try to kill him, he escapes etc etc...then the last line, he gets home and says "I walked inside it was SIX IN THE MORNIN'! [big echo]"...basically meaning that this song had been the prequel to the events of his earlier his "6 in the Mornin" which starts "6 in the mornin, police at my door, fresh addidas squeak across the livin' room floor"....thought that was super clever and both songs are great.

I think The Smiths' "Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others" qualifies. Just the weird way the sound drops out, making you think it's over.

"My Mind Playing Tricks On Me" by Geto Boys. Yes, the title kinda gives it away, but not specifically.

Also, whatever that Biggie song was where he comes out of the place after pulling some gangster shit and his car has been towed because it was double-parked.

I'll take back "Lola" and replace it w/"All She Wrote" from the Ray Davies album.

When you found somebody new I thought I never would
Forget you for I thought then I never could
But time has taken all the pains away until now I'm down to hurtin' once a day...

Once a day all day long and once a night from dusk till dawn
The only time I wish you weren't gone is once a day every day all day long

I'm so glad that I'm not like a girl I knew one time
She lost the one she loved then slowly lost her mind
She sat around and cried her life away oh lucky me I'm only cryin' once a day...

Once a day all day long...
Once a day every day all day long

That Cunninlinguists song (Appreciate?) where two characters are leaving home for the airport--one's in a fight with his wife, the other off to reunite with his troubled brother--and at the end we find out they're boarding the planes that hit the Twin Towers.

I got it, I got it!
I got your number on the wall!
I got it, I got it!
For a good time, for a good time call....

Also, "Girl in the Mirror" by Britney Spears. Twist revealed: THE GIRL IS BRITNEY

Haydn - Symphony No.94 (also called the 'Surprise Symphony' funnily enough)

Actually scrub that - it's not at the end...it's is surprising though.

Can't believe no one has mentioned this before, but "Love Vigilantes" by New Order is an excellent example of this.

neil stewart (nstewart), Monday, 11 December 2006 13:31 (seventeen years ago) link

"Love Vigilantes" by New Order is an excellenthilariously bad example of this.

ledge (ledge), Monday, 11 December 2006 13:42 (seventeen years ago) link

Wow, zing!

neil stewart (nstewart), Monday, 11 December 2006 13:57 (seventeen years ago) link

Ah c'mon, it is the nadir of Barney's career of comedically awful lyrics.

ledge (ledge), Monday, 11 December 2006 14:03 (seventeen years ago) link

Hmmm, maybe. I think it tells a good story, myself, and the Barney Sumner = bad lyricist thing is a bit tired, but each to their own!
