you can count the Gories in with the Dirtbombs if you want, though I pedantically encourage against it, considering that Death never got to record an album whereas Dirtbombs have recorded several: they already have the advantage there.

Mick Collins is the major guy behind Dirtbombs, and I feel like he is deliberately making overt Motown and other soul references in his garage band

this is partly an outloud thing; someone started playing Death songs and I asked him if he had ever heard of Ultraglide in Black (he was quite fond of Party Store)

these guys don't really sound the same (different eras too). the only dirtbombs thing i've heard is Party Store, which was a good idea but ran into problems. the Death album is a million times classic, so them.

I def agree they don't sound the same, but dl you should seek out Ultraglide in Black which are a collection of soul covers. That's a p great album.
