I prefer camembert.

What's the difference between brie and camembert? Is it just that camembert is a bit smellier?

Made with dfifferent bacteria. Bries vary in size more. Camambert is generally (though not always) made in the wheel size you buy in the supermarket, possibly as it tends to go a bit oozier. If you're just buying the average stuff then camambert packs a shedload more flavour (for my taste, anyway), the further you go up the quality chain then the less pronounced the difference is, Brie de Meaux and Brie de Melun being good examples.

my gf brought a camambert back from Paris on Eurostar. Ppl were complaining about the smell.

Brie is one of those things where I think "I really like this", eat loads of it, get UTTERLY SICK of the stuff, wait a month or two, repeat....

I did not know that they were different bacteria - but that would make sense why I prefer Camembert as I always get the cheap stuff.
