Setting up a mailing list/bulletin board...

I recently reached the end of a course and we were all hoping to stay in touch using some kind of system where we could upload tracks we were working on and be notified of an addition to the "hivemind". Has anyone set up a mailing list or bulletin board that can do the above? If so, how and where? It's basically so that we don't have to send each other emails and can post up there for all to see.

Does that even make sense?!

Do you mean like Google Groups or Yahoo Groups or something? Don't they have file upload capabilities?

God, I hate Yahoo Groups, though. The amount of non-message-related crap you get in every mail is so annoying.

My provider lets me do this quick and easy (on my website).

Okay, I'm setting up a google group. There's not much space so how is this as a kind of "don't blame X for opinion etc on this group":

This group is not officially affiliated with X or it's staff, it is completely independent.

Too naif?

That would do for my uni. It's when people claim or imply they're connected that there's trouble.

Yes, that seems to cover you, legally speaking.

Cheers all. It's set up anyway. It's so empty! :( Soon they will come and then I'll complain about all the pointless zings and things.

Make sure they never, ever get your email address or you're going to start seeing "I GOFOT MY PASSWORD AGAN" in your dreams. :)

I can't believe you misused an apostrophe and neither madchen nor stet picked you up on it :-)

Damn straight. Though one of us will have to leave early since our sites have been hacked, or a name needs g00glepr00fed.
