Inferior-styleee American spoilers ahoy, obviously, so UK peeps go away.

I only watched the first part of the double-hour on Monday, mostly because Heroes was on, but also because of the show's pornographic sadism that was in full effect in the first hour. Drilling a dude's shoulders? And killing hottie foxy who'd shown gumption and entrepreneurial opportunism, only to make her completely stupid so that they can demonize Arabs, sorry, MIDDLE EASTERNERS even more.

Should I finish the second hour (at least there's still Rena Sofer, right?), or is the FUBARed beyond belief now?

Donkey Kong New York (Lee), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 17:36 (seventeen years ago) link

Dude:

1) when have they NOT demonized the Middle East?
2) wha bout the Middle Easterner working w/ the Prez to STOP TEH BAD MANGS?
3) that chick (simpering, whiny, aiding & abetting in a "duuuuuuh" style, then ZOMG MONEY grubbing, then turning chickenshit because ZOMG PUNCH) got exactly what she deserved

And if you are feeling the Sofer, then you'll def. want to check out the 2nd hour.

I'm starting to wonder if folks that think this season is FUBAR'd ever actually watched the show before.

That show is one fucked-up vision of America. It's innaresting that "the right" loves it so much.

The "right" loves it when the US gets nuked.

1. Thinking about it this morning, I realized that in the 24-verse, the only good Arab as a dead Arab. (Season 2, that agent d00d dies; Dina Araz & probably Behrooz die after collaborating w/ CTU; Sayed Ali dies after collaborating; etc.).

2. As much as I like Dr. Bashir, d00d's totally going to turn.

3. Dead Chick seeemed like she was actually a double -- the way she asked Dead Brit what was going on seemed like undercover questions -- and even when she turned out to be opportunistic & evil (she was completely off the radar!), it was a good heel turn, but then midway through it the writers made her stupid too. But all this is because I am smitten with her, and perhaps I am just mad that they killed off eye candy.

As long as they don't send CTU Hottie out into the field (to set up a perimeter) (dammit), my 24 eye candy needs are satisfied.

Insert joke about opening ports.

'24' Producer Agrees To Cut Torture Scenes

Although denying that he is reacting to growing international criticism, Howard Gordon, an executive producer of Fox's 24, has disclosed that the show plans to cut back on torture scenes. "What was once an extraordinary or exceptional moment is starting to feel a little trite. The idea of physical coercion or torture is no longer a novelty or surprise," Gordon told today's (Thursday) Philadelphia Inquirer. "It's not something that we, as writers, want to use as a crutch. We'd like to find other ways for Jack to get information out of suspects," he added. Gordon's comments came after the New Yorker magazine reported that Brigadier General Patrick Finnegan, dean of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and an eminent military lawyer, had flown to California to meet producers of the show. Finnegan reportedly told the producers that promoting illegal behavior on the show was having a damaging effect on U.S. troops in Iraq. Finnegan told the magazine, "The kids see it and say, 'If torture is wrong, what about 24?'" In response, Gordon told the Inquirer,"The thesis that we are affecting our soldiers in Iraq in their treatment of prisoners is being exaggerated, I think. Hopefully, there are a lot of filters between their watching 24 and their work in the field."

I'm just watching some on copy that a guy at work burned for me, it's the season that starts off with Jack living a normal life as he faked his death at the end of the previous season. Which season am i watching? and how many more have been made after it, so far?

EW said at the beginning of the season that Jean Smart would be back (as well as Prez Logan who just appeared). Dunno yet how they're going to work her in.
