gabbneb those are the most boring shoes ever in the history of man.

Mr. Que (Party with me Punker), Monday, 12 February 2007 16:44 (seventeen years ago) link

most comfortable shoes i've put on since the last similar pair i had, which were sort of medium-tannish-brown and which i walked holes into twice, the second time after resoling. these are rubber-soled, but lasted so's you can't tell unless you have your ankle on your knee or your foot in someone's face or something.

also ally otm, ooh la la!

Mr. Que (Party with me Punker), Monday, 12 February 2007 16:52 (seventeen years ago) link

Okay, true, true and true, but there's a reason plain black cap-toe lace-ups are popular: they go with everything, they come in all price points/degrees of quality, and they make footwear for about 2/3 of your suits (excepting those in camel, seersucker or linen, and possibly navy) a non-issue.

Laurel (Laurel), Monday, 12 February 2007 16:55 (seventeen years ago) link

I actually have thigh-high boots (though not cheap vinyl ones like that) that I have never, ever worn because, really, I don't have a very good reason to be parading around in things like that. Waste of a significant chunk of money, so far.

I think Mr. Que is just astounded that such a regular pick of shoes required a whole thread but I appreciate being able to post ridiculous shoes, so kudos to gabbneb

Allyzay heard you got beat up in a club. (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Monday, 12 February 2007 16:57 (seventeen years ago) link

i totally agree Laurel. Every guy needs a pair like this for weddings and funerals but every day footwear does not have to be so boring. i guess what i am indirectly saying is, I'm glad I don't have to wear a suit every day b/c then I'd have to wear dull shoes like these every day

Mr. Que (Party with me Punker), Monday, 12 February 2007 16:57 (seventeen years ago) link

laurel you're pretty much correct but that doesn't change the fact that those shoes are boring.

My last two pairs of shoes were both Dansko clogs - one in shiny black cabrio leather and one in brown suede. I fear hardcore footwear mockery should I ever meet Laurel or Ally in all my comfort-shoe wearing in person glory.

Handgun O. Mendocino (pullapartgirl), Monday, 12 February 2007 17:12 (seventeen years ago) link

yeah they are some tough chicks. you don't want to mess with them.

Mr. Que (Party with me Punker), Monday, 12 February 2007 17:13 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm actually a big fan of my backless white Dansko clogs for summer! They're clunky and Hummel-footed with bare legs, and WHITE WHITE WHITE for that crisp look. And they make me about two inches taller without being heels.

yeah! a bit of a challenge to walk in but not as bad as you'd think. and I guess since the last ones went on sale or something they aren't making any more tara subkoff for easy spirit shoes? too bad.. though they're awfully expensive.. I got mine about 50% off. saw some girl outside indebleu sat night who had a grey platform pair, they were awesome

dar1a g (dar1a g), Monday, 12 February 2007 18:42 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah, I went and saw those when they had come out (not those specifically, Tara Subkoff I mean) but it was way too much, especially for shopping at a store I always swore I'd never purchase from purely on the basis of hating their old ads...they were a lot of cute though :(

Allyzay heard you got beat up in a club. (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Monday, 12 February 2007 18:44 (seventeen years ago) link

they are pretty decent, but not $300 worth I think! mine were about $125.

dar1a g (dar1a g), Monday, 12 February 2007 18:47 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah, if they were in that range I would've considered the stuff there! I've got a barrier about shoes and it is about $200, usually.

Allyzay heard you got beat up in a club. (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Monday, 12 February 2007 18:49 (seventeen years ago) link

no, sorry: i bet you can buy any pair of rockports and they are just as comfortable and may look a 1000 times better

actually, for less money i could have bought two (three, really) pairs of rockports in the two different sizes my feet are and picked out the right size shoe for each foot from each pair, and they still wouldn't be as comfortable as the ones i got. also, you can tell that their dress shoes, unlike the sub-dress stuff they do best, are pretty much shite without even touching them.

as much as i might like to wear http://www.theshoemart.com/mas_assets/thumb/ALD_m_Chukka_Boot_Shell_Cordovan_Cigar.jpg or equivalent to work, they are, how you say, not professional-looking imo.

they look like every shoe ever worn on the train from Greenwich CT to NYC

TOMB07 (trm), Monday, 12 February 2007 19:22 (seventeen years ago) link

if they're made well that's a typical price isn't it? most of the shoes i wear except trainers were over $300 originally (but I got them all either on big sale or abroad back when the exchange rate was really good)

dar1a g (dar1a g), Monday, 12 February 2007 19:25 (seventeen years ago) link

Ms Misery (MsMisery), Monday, 12 February 2007 19:40 (seventeen years ago) link

i don't like the kind with that weird ankle sock thing tho.

my feet are 1/2 size apart. the rockport almost-dress things (which are pretty good shoes) fit well enough, but i can't quite get away with those any more. for real dress shoes, there's a mid-range brand that's hit or miss for me, but after i walked through my last pair of those i decided i didn't want to deal anymore.
