Make a tampon bouquet for Diamanda Galas. She'll dig that.

This was prompted by a comment on a friend's LJ poll about Valentine's Day.

my VD is starting getting stood up for a text messaging date :(

emily simpson (emilys.), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 06:30 (seventeen years ago) link

not that I give VD any credence except for conversation hearts and homemade valentines

emily simpson (emilys.), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 06:31 (seventeen years ago) link

man, teh suckiness of the sandbox tonight isn't helping

I forgot to mention: I got a VD card the other day, and I'm baffled. I thought I knew who it might be from, from the writing style of the message; but she denies all knowledge.

Maybe she's just pretending it's not from her, to add to the intrigue.

ugghh this day sucks

chaki (chaki), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 08:59 (seventeen years ago) link

I left a big bowl of strawberries, rasberries & cream in teh fridge, srounded w/roses petals, for xtra special valentine breakfast for my GF. I even went and bought alphabet fridge magnets and spelled out "YOU GOT BRAKFAST[sic]IN HERE PAWS" on the fridge door, and she still didn't find them ;_;
So I had to get out of bed and point it out. Woe is me.

teh_kit (g-kit), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 09:00 (seventeen years ago) link

There's a strange burning smell at work today. We looked around for a bit and it comes from the backpack of a female collegue. Turns out her husband programmed their oven last night to bake some croissants for a romantic breakfast in bed this morning, but he somehow made a mistake and they woke up at about 1 AM when they smelled the burning croissants in the kitchen below. No damage done, she still got the flowers and fresh fruit juice in bed this morning, but everything they have (and our office) now smells of burnt bread.

Ah... romance.

The gift that keeps on giving! Great choice!

The Achewood Cookbook rules.

Ally OTMFM!!!

I got a text from S.O. It is all good in the hood. This is just like any other day though so why am I getting so stressed about tonight!?

kv_nol (kv_nol), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 09:04 (seventeen years ago) link

I had to leave the house before anyone else awoke today.

Left something nice though.

I expect that my Valentines card from TTH is held up in the mail. International post is notoriously unreliable.

Dr.C (Dr.C), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 09:54 (seventeen years ago) link

Aw, Kit, yours is cute.

I got an apologetic "I didn't get you anything for Valentine's Day" from Mister Monkey when I picked him up from the train yesterday evening, but that's okay.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 10:05 (seventeen years ago) link

someone in the office got a genuine 'who is this from' valentine, and one prominent reaction was 'try to get a police escort home'.

temporary enrique (temporary enrique), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 11:20 (seventeen years ago) link

I got my gf flowers...boring I guess but I really hate cards and I got her a CD last year, this year I didn't want to get a CD for her.

She is upset because she was finishing a job last Friday and they took her out in the afternoon so she didn't get a chance to post my card until Monday. It's funny cos I keep saying I'm more upset that she is upset than if my card doesn't arrive until tomorrow but she is still upset anyway!

Sonned by the Irish post office.

Did you listen to or ignore the advice of the Rt. Hon. Mr Hillary Benn MP?

now they're talking data protection law.

I wonder if FP is implying that my anecdotes are rubbish, upthread :)?

Those of you who've worked in kitchens will greet the news that our clueless new manager has decided to arrange everything in two sittings with a shudder of horror. I'm not anticipating a pleasant evening. I am anticipating 280 well done steaks.

I am taking my beloved to a performance of happy hardcore tunes played on a church organ. I would be doing this even if today was not Valentine's Day, as I am a big bundle o' romantic love all year round.

No, Matt!

(has anyone else noticed, though, that the Guardian seems to run the *same* "working in a restaurant on Feb 14th is horrible" article every year?)

I don't doubt the all year round bit but an organ recital of happy hardcore? Where?! I can only imagine you screaming "CAN YOU FEEL IT" at the top of your lungs whenever possible!

kv_nol (kv_nol), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 15:16 (seventeen years ago) link

If you went along, Kev, you would not have to imagine it.

The evening would only be complete if the Vicar was to wear a dress shirt, white tie and tails, but then take his tailcoat off to reveal that he was wearing only the starched front of the dress shirt, and could make big box little box very effectively with his dress gloves.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 15:19 (seventeen years ago) link

BIG BOX LITTLE BOX! Has someone been talking to Aussie David? Or is this a running "happy raver" joke that everyone but the Americans already knows?

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 15:20 (seventeen years ago) link

Not a chance in hell of me going! Have a quiet night in planned.

That get up would seriously bring da voibe! He'd need Rener in the background making 'woo woo' noises and a big neon dummy thing as well. GLOWSTIX ALL ROUND!!!

Laurel, have you ever heard of the "Supermarket shop" dance?
