So! Guys.

I'm totally doing this now..
Camping in Edinburgh 21-22nd
Inverness, Ullapool and Durness + Cape Wrath 23rd.
Skye?? 24th.
Glasgow for dancing (NPL??) 25th.
Loch Lomond (maybe) 26th
Edinburgh see B+S 27th

Fancy a pint at any point? And more tips as to what to do?

I'm most looking forward to the 23rd cos that'd be all the places I haven't been before and they all look pretty (I still have to look into the ferry and minibus to Cape Wrath - do i need to book those?)

24th will be the fallback day - depends if i can do all those in one day of the 23rd.

27th. Current roll-call going = me, my wee brother, Ken C, Boyler. I will be in Edinburgh before lunchtime, I should think, and would like to meet people for booze. I shall cross the "how the holy hell do I get back from Edinburgh" bridge when I come to it. Any suggestions as to best places to hang around all night (I'm assuming there are some Late'n'Live fringey events going on), or offers of accommodation for me and my bro would be muchly appreciated.

There are still tickets available, £20 + BF, a BARGAIN to see two of the finest bands in the world ever and marvel at teh Care Bear on a bloody big stage. My bro went to the Belladrum Festival at the weekend and contrived to miss them. He heard they were very good, but unfortunately they coincided with his mate's band on the other stage.

I'd heard about that gig but didn't realise CO were playing. Now I know, it might be worth going.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 15 August 2006 15:29 (eighteen years ago) link

would it really cost £20 + a boyfriend to get a ticket?

it's gonna be great!

Ken, make FAP plans please. Friday, city centre-ish should be nice. I can be there early doors, and am not going to Pop League. Please please make it city centre so that us out-of-towners can remember to get trains home please.

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Thursday, 17 August 2006 15:09 (eighteen years ago) link

OK, I'm going to get a ticket tomorrow.

Should I start a thread called "we want ken fap" or would people think I was taking the piss?

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Thursday, 17 August 2006 15:15 (eighteen years ago) link

haha do it!!

i don't really know pubs around the city centre (not living there and all).. any suggestions? i only know the one on the side of george square.. and one called drum and monkey, which is somewhere. and had a great quiz machine.

ken c, Thursday, 17 August 2006 17:26 (eighteen years ago) link

Drum and Monkey no longer has a great quiz machine. Actually, to be more specific, it no longer has a quiz machine. Unless they've put it back again since a couple of weeks ago.

When I say make FAP plans, I obviously mean confirm for definite that you are going to be in Glasgow and tell us when you are here, where you are staying and when you want to go to the pub. I finish at 3 on a Friday, which is an excellent time to go to the pub to get seats before everyone else gets out.

My new favourite pub is the Alpen Lodge but it holds, like, ten people.

oh right i see!

i'm staying at the good ol "Albion Hotel" on north woodside road (same road as the 'woody') on friday.. probably get there early afternoon (will be driving down from oop north!), set down the car, probably get a shower to wash away all the camping stench and show my friend around Glasgow a bit before the pub so will probably be ready for boozy action about 4 or 5 or something? Depending on when we get down to glasgow

Ticket purchased for B&S&CO

Ken, there is info about ferry/minibus here. Perhaps it's got better since I last went there (about 10 years ago) but the ferryman was a miserable old bugger who wasn't very nice to people (not us) who hadn't booked in advance.
