For celebration tonight we are going out to see our friends the Riverboat Gamblers play. I'm sure some booze-drinking will be involved.

In terms of New Year mental readiness I've been cleaning/reorganizing the past couple of days. We've rid the garage of crap, I've straightened my sewing room and am about to tackle the dresser drawers. Bags for the Salvation Army wait by the front door. Fuck a resolution.

tomorrow starts with mimosas for breakfast and then good luck blackeyed peas, cornbread and greens for dinner. yum.

I'm chilling out with my mom because it looks like we will get snowed in here but later there will be champagne at my best friend's house, provided her mum hasn't turned into a total crankypants becaue of having a full house and insisting on waiting on them hand and foot and refusing all offers of assistance.

Earlier, we made a snowman with the help of N's daughter B3lla, my three and a half-year-old assistant who calls it "tnow".

stet texted me to tell me there was "no queue" and "lots of tickets" at the art school bash, and that i'd "love it". by the time i got the text i was well past even considering it. hope you had a good one, mate.

now, however, while mrs F slumbers, i'm full of food and coffee and can't sleep. fuck. someone in the tenement sounds like they're having a party. however, it also sounds like a pretty bollocks party, so i'm going to stay here until i simply pass outzzzzzzz ...

I worked till 11 p.m. and that was less than thrilling. i watched the fireworks in the harbour from outside the hospital with some of the people working in the emergency room and that was fun. the fireworks were so close! cleaned up blood. came home and watched dick clark and had bubbly and took a shower and then had hott milf sexx. time for bed.

I just came back from a family celebration. There's always a family celebration for New Year's Eve/Day so the few years I haven't had one it's felt really weird. So I welcomed the New Year in properly, surrounded by relatives, sipping a requisite little bit of champagne (my alcohol content for the year) and watching the local TV coverage of our local New Year's spectacle. This year the skies were actually clear (they haven't been for the past few years) so we all got a good glimpse of the fireworks. Now I think I'll be going to sleep. I don't go back to work until the 3rd, but I just want to get some extra sleep. Plus I think I'm catching a cold so all the better to fight that.

Had some family and friends over to bring in the bells at our house, got the obligatory lump of coal but don't know where to put it.

Struggled with the worlds worst hangover at work all day yesterday, had to cancel my traditional New Years Eve meal and sip ginger wine to calm my stomach enough for visitors.

Managed to last until 3am, in work at 6.45. My eyes feel like broken glass and I'm cold, so cold. Must sleep soon.

Spent the weekend at a friends place in Gloucestershire, they weren't there but other friends were. We walked along the banks of the Severn to the pub. Cooked a big joint of beef, argued about how to make gravy, played scrabble and got drunk in front of the fire, highly enjoyable.

I went to see Fucked Up in London who were completely great, and randomly met some people I know there which was cool. Failed to find much happening after that, which was a shame, although we did get a pint in a unassuming pub at about 5am. Pretty good overall, and I missed all the shit weather while either on a bus or in a venue.
