"Host Todd Oldham!" is not the most promising lead.

Is this basically just a rehash of HGTV's Design Star with higher production values, cooler challenges and better prizes?

Yes, yes, and maybe. HGTV gave the winner his own show, Project [X} winners just fade into anonymity.

milo why you hate on todd oldham? plus dont be all slobberish over design star, it was filmed way more than a year ago and shelved because it WAS NOT GOOD ENUF FOR HGTV (ouch)

Because I hate every Todd Oldham commercial on TV. He's smarmy and annoying. And he's not Heidi (or Padma).

milo (milo), Thursday, 28 December 2006 02:29 (nineteen years ago)

haha okay then, you better not watch. i don't find him annoying; more importantly, i think he's a good designer and could make a good host.

are they going to bring Cindy Crawford back too?

nuneb (nuneb), Thursday, 28 December 2006 05:32 (nineteen years ago)

back for what?

Matt Cibula (Formerly, the Haikunym), Thursday, 28 December 2006 05:38 (nineteen years ago)

I didn't say Oldham was a deal-breaker, just that it lowers my expectations. Tim Gunn should host all of these shows, regardless of whether he knows anything about the topic or not. Benevelovent professor and snappy dresser, an unbeatable combination.

My total Oldham design experience is his La-Z-Boy line (nice, maybe, but colors much flashier than I could handle) and Target.

Girl with cleavage-shirt will go far.
