And of course, there's at least a few within two miles of my house here in NE portland. Great.

kingfish in absentia (kingfish), Wednesday, 20 December 2006 08:43 (seventeen years ago) link

Surprisingly few in my middle class suburb.

Unsurprisingly, Riverside and San Bernadino Counties rule the roost.

Jesus Dan (dan perry), Wednesday, 20 December 2006 14:39 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah, only three in Cuyahoga County -- Cle is much too sophisticated for such low-end substances :-)

Jeff Wright (jaw1858), Wednesday, 20 December 2006 17:51 (seventeen years ago) link

God, no googlemaps mashup?

jw (ex machina), Wednesday, 20 December 2006 17:53 (seventeen years ago) link

It was at the point when five of the six houses in closest proximity to my grandmother's old house were crack houses that I figured out that Akron was not really doing all that well. (This would have been circa 1994-1995.) The thing that gets me about that report is that I recognize NONE of the street names, which at least makes me think that my family who still lives there are all in relatively controlled, decent areas of town. (I do have an uncle who was almost mauled by a tiger in his neighborhood but I don't think that's a citywide concern.)

Jesus Dan (dan perry), Wednesday, 20 December 2006 17:56 (seventeen years ago) link

Tacoma, oh you

jergins (jergins), Wednesday, 20 December 2006 17:57 (seventeen years ago) link

Either that or we have smarter meth lab operators than Summit County.

xpost -- yep, the mashup shouldn't be far behind.

Jeff Wright (jaw1858), Wednesday, 20 December 2006 17:57 (seventeen years ago) link

meth is huge phenom in middle and rural america.

I think the yuppiefication of austin has driven meth labs out to surrounding counties. tsk tsk.

Esp. weird that the one location is in a residential neighborhood with a fair amount of foot traffic.

None in Flint, only in Clio. None in Ann Arbor, one in Saline(the wealthy, republican suburb).

And only one in Detroit.

kingfish in absentia (kingfish), Wednesday, 20 December 2006 20:43 (seventeen years ago) link

This is dumb; there was definitely one in my old hometown in PA and it's not listed.

Hm. I grew up in Akron and recognize all too many of those street names. Some of them are very near my parents' house. But I have to wonder how you could have not recognized Waterloo Rd? Arlington? Anyway, what a depressing list.

Armando Grouse (Armando ), Wednesday, 20 December 2006 21:53 (seventeen years ago) link

about six in the city of l.a., a whole bunch in the county

without you i'm nothing (get bent), Wednesday, 20 December 2006 21:54 (seventeen years ago) link

DEAR HSTNGS --

My next door neighbor (back home) was arrested as a meth kingpin!

also: totally shocked that there aren't any labs here where I live in MT. EVERYONE in this town is a fucking tweaker.

Unsurprisingly, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties rule the roost.

Damn straight! And that's only a few that were reported between 2004-2006.
