I think jhoshea's title point is pretty accurate. since ICE is now part of the big bad antiterror catchall pork program, the requests for extraordinarily stupid shit get rubber-stamped like everything else in the DOJ's inbox from there, and boom, horrible, horrible things happen, and everybody can't help but be surprised at the seemingly bottomless pit of idiocy and incompetence we've thrown our eggs in.
