That's terribly unfair. Since then they've added a truckstop waitress.

Oh, uh - nevermind, then.

I take the point about the only women in it being strippers and cheerleaders (but wasn't Buffy also a cheerleader? And didn't everyone love her?) but I still love this show. I suppose I'm prepared to love any show that's not another Law and Order or CSI spinoff, but I just think it's fun and comic book-y and has dippy moments in it. Also is kind of creepy and slightly more gory than I was expecting.

I finally saw ep10. I liked it! I like "Gabriel"! I love shows with lovable nerdy villains. I mean, is he even a villain? What if he's only killing the ones who are going to die anyway? Does that mean they HAVEN'T actually "save[d] the cheerleader" yet?

And I am officially laying FIVE AMERICAN DOLLAR on DL being dead in ep11 (which sucks because I loved him).

drunk Friendster massage (nklshs), Thursday, 30 November 2006 14:08 (nineteen years ago)

There was a MARATHONG last night! I watched, like, four episodes! It's terrible, but I think I'm sold on Hiro's clueless charm and Ali Larter's gently aging beauty. The Son of Suresh and his gamine gal pal are seriously annoying me, though.

When exactly did he come back from being dead? I thought he faked becoming really ill .. oh wait actually I remember watching that ep (the one where he escapes from Primatech) completely drunk, not understanding a single thing and thinking he had survived by leeching the cockroach's amazing survival powers. Or something.

I'm pretty sure he was it by the bullet as there is no other reason for him to fall back on the fridge the way he does. Or maybe Bennett yelled "Surprise!" when coming in and that did it.

jibe (jibe), Friday, 16 February 2007 00:22 (nineteen years ago)

Very early in the series, Sylar's been shot already (by Psychic Cop and FBI Girlfriend), and he either played possum or was actually fazed before springing back to life though I would not his sort of life "living"!

(OMG, I am EXPLAINING Star Trek references, what is WRONG with me?)

ailsa, you ought to know that I'm proud of you.

Donkey Kong New York (Lee), Friday, 16 February 2007 00:54 (nineteen years ago)

Sooo.... did no one watch the latest?

Stuck in ILX Limbo (Roz), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 13:10 (nineteen years ago)

Um this episode was totally DOPE dudes. I love that they are utilizing my three favorite villain archetypes: the shady guy working for some vast conspiracy, the once-nerdy guy who is now power hungry and crazed, the once normal nice guy ("TeddyBear616") whose life was ruined by his "gift".

Semi-hilarious fun fact: State Gaming Commission dude that had the talk with Hiro about partners was played by Bill Fagerbakke, voice of Spongebob Squarepants' best friend Patrick. Yet another thing this show has in common with LOST: Spongebob voice actors showing up for menacing-ish guest spots.

I was wondering how long it would be until Peter realized he had mooched some powers from Sylar. I imagine that's who he got the sonic boom voice from, as well as the telekinesis. I will miss Dr Invisiwho, but I'm glad Peter Petrelli has managed to become an interesting, fun-to-watch character, when, back in the olden days, he seemed so completely awful.

haha xpost

nklshs (nklshs), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 13:12 (nineteen years ago)

Also, you just KNOW that Hiro and Ando are going to have separate adventures that bring them back together just in time for something Really Awesome And Important.

nklshs (nklshs), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 13:14 (nineteen years ago)

Dude, how did Peter become so awesome in the space of one episode?! I like crazy Pete.

Sonic boom voice was from Eden, right? which he probably got when he went to see Mohinder early on.

Stuck in ILX Limbo (Roz), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 13:22 (nineteen years ago)

Oh wait, never mind - she had that voice when she was persuading people, not throwing them back. But it could have been both - that and the telekinesis.

Stuck in ILX Limbo (Roz), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 13:24 (nineteen years ago)

I think he and Claude have been hanging for weeks now.

Oh man, pissed-off superpower cocktail! Good call.

nklshs (nklshs), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 13:25 (nineteen years ago)

I liked Simone but it's okay with me that she died.

Also how did Glasses Dad know DeVeaux Building?

And did Claude have his tracking dealies ripped out, or were his made by a much more primitive device (all those years ago)? His scar thingies looked WAY grodier than the others.

nklshs (nklshs), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 13:27 (nineteen years ago)

I think Claude got his taken out, they thought he was dead remember?

Yeah I didn't mind Simone dying - death of THE girl is always the best hero motivator, not to mention a potential Peter/Isaac face-off!

Stuck in ILX Limbo (Roz), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 13:30 (nineteen years ago)

I thought at first when Bennett gave Isaac the gun that this was the day he gets killed by Sylar (remember when Hiro found the gun?).

But then Peter turned up and I thought, oh noes he's gonna slice Isaac's head open with Sylar's powers! Awesome!

No such luck. :(

Stuck in ILX Limbo (Roz), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 13:36 (nineteen years ago)

And did Claude have his tracking dealies ripped out, or were his made by a much more primitive device (all those years ago)? His scar thingies looked WAY grodier than the others.

-- nklshs (nklsh...), February 20th, 2007.

that was my thought, too... but then later in the episode they were talking about how the tracking device was a radioisotope that was in their bloodstreams, which I don't really think you could rip out.

also:

- jesus christ, Sylar! talk about yr impulse control problems! he's just lucky that Mohinder somehow makes even worse decisions than him.
- Peter is a total fucking bad-ass! at first I was worried that his multi-power outburst on the rooftop was a one-time thing that he would struggle to replicate, but apparently not!
- semi-related: I guess this means the haitian doesn't actually have power suppression? either that, or he inexplicably opted to wear thermal goggles rather than oh hmm I dunno TURNING OFF THEIR INVISIBILITY PERHAPS
- interrogation of Bennett = perfect way to reveal some more details and advance the plot. good call, writers.

nklshs (nklshs), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 15:12 (nineteen years ago)

What was Hiro humming in the beginning of that car scene? If it was A) the theme from Coach or B) the theme from Spongebob Squarepants, then, uh, brilliant!

nklshs (nklshs), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 15:16 (nineteen years ago)

Whose powers has the Haitian futzed with? Psychic Cop & Sylar, right? Anyone else?

Confirmed: Eden (I kind of wish she hadn't died so soon). Probably: Ted and Instant Messenger Babe.

nklshs (nklshs), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 15:21 (nineteen years ago)

I was thinking that maybe his power-blocking only works for mental-type powers (when Eden & Haitian confronted Sylar it was Eden that actually subdued him I think), he's only been able to affect powers of persuasion/telepathy etc (he couldn't keep Nathan Petrelli from flying away, for instance).

nklshs (nklshs), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 15:27 (nineteen years ago)

Stuck in ILX Limbo (Roz), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 16:17 (nineteen years ago)

OK, one thing: in all the previous premonitions regarding PP blowing up everything, Simone is there - maybe she's not dead?!?! PP possibly uses Sylar TK to staunch the bleeding or something?

ALSO: Sylar has a lot more going on than just the TK (which he stole using his "I know brains" power). Does PP have those other powers as well, or does someone have to whip it out for PP to absorb it?

David RER (Frank Fiore), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 16:18 (nineteen years ago)

We don't know what else Sylar has besides telekinesis except for Googlebrane. And so far, PP has only used powers that other people have used. He hasn't been remembering a lot lately so maybe he can't absorb any powers unless it's being used.

Stuck in ILX Limbo (Roz), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 16:25 (nineteen years ago)

I read in the paper this morning that Simone's gonna be in another ep plus the finale.

nklshs (nklshs), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 16:32 (nineteen years ago)

We don't know what else Sylar has besides telekinesis except for Googlebrane.

I don't remember, but, when Hiro went back to save Charlie*, did Sylar still get her sweet sweet brains, or did she die of that brain thing she had? Also he now has super hearing (also maybe super hip-hop appreciation) and that molecular destabilization thing (but obv Peter does NOT have these powers).**

*haha this actress was on Ugly Betty and her name was Charlie and she was from a small town on that show too, I wonder if it was intentional

**how long until the HEROES TRADING CARD VIDEO GAME?

nklshs (nklshs), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 16:36 (nineteen years ago)

I had the same idea re: Charlie. Sylar didn't kill her, but she still died from an aneurysm.

The Charlie actress was also on House (sick, gets liver transplant from girlfriend she was going to leave).

scampering alpaca (scampering alpaca), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 16:43 (nineteen years ago)

Charlie was way adorable.

I might be remembering wrong but I think Sylar still got her - Hiro didn't change anything in her past except make her happy for a little while (aww).

Zach was also in an ep of House.

Stuck in ILX Limbo (Roz), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 16:47 (nineteen years ago)

Yep Sylar got her - Ando/Hiro's conversation with Isaac in Texas diner, Ando said "You caught him? That's good news - Hiro lost a friend. The Brainman killed her."

Donkey Kong New York (Lee), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 17:54 (nineteen years ago)

Cameos are fun to spot when they're subtle, or when the cameo isn't incredibly awkward (like Stephen King's appearances).

Chris Hill (scampering alpaca), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 18:11 (nineteen years ago)

Ha, I am so not the cameo whore spotter. Who is bus driver guy? Probably someone from Star Trek since I keep being explained refs to ST.

Finally Peter becomes a good character. Whiny Peter is dead, long live angry Peter! I am however pretty sad that we probably won't see invisible dude anymore, he was definitely one of the most enjoyable heroes if not the most.

Also, I couldn't help but think that the Others are Heroes (which was a theory I had a long time back) thanks to that one Nathan Petrelli sentence.

The Many Faces of Gordon Jump (Leon), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 00:17 (nineteen years ago)

But, as a non cameo whore spotter, I didn't expect that and it saddens me. What good is it for him to disappear from shows? Is he such an insufferable asshole that the writers write him off?

jibe (jibe), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 00:30 (nineteen years ago)

Erm, I saw Stan Lee's name in the opening credits and knew his name if not what he looked like, and figured he was the really hammy bus driver from his hamminess and general non-actor-ness. So, bit nerdy for knowing his name, I guess.
