Caught a bit of the Royal Variety Thang last night, and - it may just be my hormones I'm not sure - I fancied Take That. All of them. Even the one who looks like their dad.

I fizzed and tingled like a fizzy tingly thing and I can't think why.

Somebody please, please tell me that they fancy Barry Manilow or Dean Gaffney to make me feel better....

Take That fancy Barry Manilow AND Dean Gaffney.

There you go :)

I fancy the ginger one from Girls Aloud, but only because nobody else does. teh_kat says she looks really out of place in a band and should totally be working in Safeway. I stick up for her by saying how yummy and talented she is.

teh_kit (g-kit), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 15:19 (seventeen years ago) link

She does look out of place and seems to know it. She lurks meekly in the background as if she's waiting for someone to catch her out.

Rumps (Rumps), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 15:25 (seventeen years ago) link

That or she's keeping an eye out for attacking toilet attendants...

kv_nol (kv_nol), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 15:29 (seventeen years ago) link

teh_kat also said that Ginger is on the front of the NME this week dressed in gothy red & black stripes. wai 2 tease teh_kit, tbh.

teh_kit (g-kit), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 15:31 (seventeen years ago) link

Not even this was enough to make me buy the NME, though.

teh_kit (g-kit), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 15:31 (seventeen years ago) link

Also, I thought this would be a kaet thread. Except that I knew it wasn't.

teh_kit (g-kit), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 15:32 (seventeen years ago) link

Ginger Girl Aloud does look completely wrong. I think she's quite pretty but has the wrong face for all that make-up and looks like she's dressing up as someone else all the time.

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 15:34 (seventeen years ago) link

Nichola looks so much hotter with her specs on.

sede vacante (blueski), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 15:46 (seventeen years ago) link

I no longer feel any shame about any of my crushes.

They simply are.

masonic boom (kate), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 15:51 (seventeen years ago) link

I just misread a thread title as "I wanna be fucking Charro". Read into that what you will.

xxxpost to myself - that was meant to link to picture 10, of Nicola, though the rest are worth a wee roffle as well.

Blaze the Violet Flame (nu_onimo), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 15:54 (seventeen years ago) link

i've always fancied the ging girl aloud too. i'm not ashamed of it though.

Ste (fuzzy), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 15:56 (seventeen years ago) link

She was definitely much prettier before they tried to make her look like a Pop Star (I mean, that means she's still pretty now, but in a weirdly unattractive kind of way).

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 15:59 (seventeen years ago) link

OK I just looked up this band and I have no idea why the ginger one is less attractive than the other ones. The dark-haired one with the pink eyeshadow on in this pic and the ginger one are the only ones that I think look a bit above just being Safeway employees??? I think this is not a crush of shame but one of proudness.

Allyzay is cool: with Blue n White, with Eli Manning, with NY Giants (Allyzay Ei, Wednesday, 13 December 2006 16:01 (seventeen years ago) link

Nadine Coyle from Dublin?!? Oh no they din't! Sarah Harding always looks well. prove me wrong!

kv_nol (kv_nol), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 16:02 (seventeen years ago) link

Nicola is easily the hottest. Kit is not alone in fancying her.

Blaze the Violet Flame (nu_onimo), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 16:03 (seventeen years ago) link

I agree, but she is made to look odd. That is a very good picture that Allyzay posted, not least because it makes all the rest of them look odd instead.

Often she is made to look like this, which isn't really a good look on her:

the pickled ginger one is definitely the best-looking. does anyone in UK think it's silly that all this britishes girls aim orange county 1986?

i suppose it's a little late to be objecting to ersatz in 'pop'

nuneb (nuneb), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 16:13 (seventeen years ago) link

This is the first I've ever seen this "Girls Aloud", I choose (Pikachu, I chose YOU)...the one with the dimples.

Dragons (per the previous FAQ answer) (nklshs), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 16:13 (seventeen years ago) link

I think it's very silly and I think Nicola looks better as herself and not as pop star.

http://img.search.com/thumb/7/77/Girlsaloudpromo.jpg/200px-Girlsaloudpromo.jpg

It's not a shameful crush at all though, my husband also fancies her best out of Girls Aloud and I like to tell myself he has a fine taste in women.

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 16:15 (seventeen years ago) link

I can't stand Girls Aloud. If they were a television channel they would be Men and Motors. But the old version of it. They have ruined that Tiffany song.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 16:15 (seventeen years ago) link

Has Men & Motors gone 'upmarket'?

sede vacante (blueski), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 16:21 (seventeen years ago) link

It's all about the ginger one, yeh. When she stopped being ginger, I has sad. But she has grown in my estimation (!) recently, and I am now reconciled with her not being ginger anymore.

Many many years ago a young kv_nol was in line to check-in at Aer Lingus business class desk to go to London (company used to use Business to make sure that if anything cropped up we wouldn't have the excuse to get leave. Stupid, stupid flexi-ticket creatures) when a breathless girl of 10 ran up to the munchkins in front.

"Are you girls aloud?" she asked.

Squeals from munchkins and little girl! Autographs signed, pictures posed for! Such excitememt!

Myself and colleague being zeitgeist-phobes knew not who this Girls Aloud were and duly ignored them in the lounge. Instead I was focussed on Sugababes (phwoar etc) of whom I had to ask for autographs for little sister (not conveniently called kv_nol as you might have suspected - also all sugababes v pleasant even with hangovers!). Sugababes shouted across lounge to Girls Aloud that they were in the papers: cue more squeals at newness and thrill of it all. Shared plane with them all, such fun and noise.

Innocent days. They'd only just won that thing and were appearing at childline gig the night before. My brush with celebrity.

The moral? Sugababes = phwaor (esp heidi, thing for the blondes in girl bands obv!), Girls Aloud are all tiny and once upon a time they were new to it all.

The end.

kv_nol (kv_nol), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 16:37 (seventeen years ago) link

Even the one who looks like their dad.

Am I misreading this or have I somehow missed that there are brothers in Take That?

nabisco (nabisco), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 17:38 (seventeen years ago) link

Huh, they don't really look much alike.

nabisco (nabisco), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 17:40 (seventeen years ago) link

You're misreading it. Surely just "one looks 20 years older than the rest of them".

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 17:41 (seventeen years ago) link

No brothers. I think she meant that one of them (Gary or Howard I presume) looks old enough to be father to the rest.

Ginger Girl Aloud also looks like curly-hairded tATu lass.

Has Men & Motors gone 'upmarket'?

As far as I know it has stopped showing half-naked girls lying across Black and Decker workmates after 11pm and now shows things like the Sweeney instead.

I just don't get them. Girls Aloud, I mean. I'm sure they're terribly attractive, but their singing does nothing for me. Sugababes are cool, though. But, if her appearance on Strictly Come Dancing the other week is anything to go by, Jamilia is best.
