He won the first one, versus the frat guys.

So there's only, what, four or five left?

it doesn't explain why they lost?

wogan lenin (doglatin), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 16:48 (seventeen years ago) link

Once again, Dog Latin, do you know how to read????

The South Carolina college students lost again when Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Joseph Biderman ruled they had failed to show a reasonable probability of success on the merits of their case or that money damages alone would be insufficient to resolve their claims.

You are no position to get snarky, dude: they didn't lose on the merits of the law suit, they lost their motion for a temporary restraining order that would have taken the movie out of theaters. The lawsuit survives.

Colin M (All names have been taken), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 17:12 (seventeen years ago) link

Yes, the lawsuit continues. But, uh: he didn't seem to understand why they lost. Clearly, it says in the article said why they lost. That's all.

Whoa, someone please explain to me how a restraining order could get a movie kicked out of thousands of theatres.

Abbott (Abbott), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 17:33 (seventeen years ago) link

the order restrains the movie from going near theatres.

A movie can be listed on the National Sex Offender List, right?

I'm a little amazed that the protests against this movie (which I thought was generally terrible) have been mainly concerned with the obviously satirical portrayal of anti-Semitism and not with the representation of Kazakhstan.

sundarsubramanian (SundarS), Friday, 22 December 2006 10:37 (seventeen years ago) link

There were loads protests about the representation of Kazakhstan.

Since the main Borat thread is stuck in limbo, I'll just say his great pratfalls and the throwaway absurdism like the Oliver Hardy moment are the most underrated things about this film.

Dr M (Dr Morbius), Friday, 22 December 2006 19:45 (seventeen years ago) link

Beautiful movie. Couldn't hold back the tears.
