"Throng gathers in Beirut to pressurize government "

For some reason this headline made me think of a lot of different scenarios...
how would you pressurize your government?
Would you sing the "Throng Song"?

I guess pressurize makes me think of putting a government into a gigantic pressing machine - like an industrial steam iron- and pressing them flat.
Or, perhaps, a pressure cooker, where they can simmer away until they are done?
