It looked freaking dark as hades over North London as the train rolled into Blackfriars this morning, but we didn't get any worse than torrential downpours and high rains which is pretty much par for the course for this time of year in London.

Tornados, however, no.

temporary enrique (temporary enrique), Thursday, 7 December 2006 15:10 (seventeen years ago) link

no, our entire road was covered with twigs plus a few rogue roof tiles. for days. but nobody cared because we were just a tory suburb, not picturesque boscastle.

does england normally get tornadoes?

Yes, on average 33 a year, and by area has the highest frequency of tornadoes per year. Though most are small, fairly harmless features or occur in rural areas.

come for the mini-tornadoes, stay for the bi-annual 4.6 richter scale quakes.

The one in Birmingham last year was quite good. Got on a few front pages as well, surprisingly.

We had the gales, showers and thunder round Chelsea way but no tornado as such.

Front page of tomorrow's Daily Express: GOD'S PUNISHMENT FOR AP RHYS PRICE MURDER

No gags about soundtrack being "Do You Come Here Often?" by the Tornados either.
