New hope for Bulgarian nurses under death threat in Libya

Five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor who have been imprisoned and tortured in Tripoli for the past seven years accused of having infected 426 children with HIV. They face being executed on December 19th.

I know a couple of the scientists who have been involved in sequencing the children's DNA to prove that their infection was a pre-existing condition before tghe nurses arrived in Libya. The story seems to have been picked up by the world's press today, so fingers crossed that the medical staff will be exonerated now.

It seems so unfair that people who have offered their medical expertise as volunteers in a third world country can be treated so badly.

Wow, how can things like this be kept from public knowledge for so long?

What awful accusations, I hope justice prevails.
