I have been campaigning with Warner Brothers for over 3 years to get this movie released on DVD but there could be a problem with the soundtrack. The US VHS release of this movie in the 80's had some of the original actors voices removed and replaced with dubbed on voices of other actors. This includes actors Johnny Shannon, John Bindon and tyhe young actress who played Loraine in the movie. 2 years ago the British Film Institute paid for a new print to be made from the original negative and soundtrack and its perfect. I was involved in the showing of this movie at the famous Electric Cinema in Notting Hill upon its re-release and a host of fans of the movie attended in 2003. Since then I have been trying to make sure that Warner Brothers used a copy of this new print to remaster for DVD but I fear this has not happened as the new copy of the film is in London and this release is from the USA.
If this is just a DVD version of the US VHS release it's not worth a dime. Its full of unnecessary cuts and edits as well as the voice dubs. Challenge Warner Bros before you buy it.

i can't *believe* it's only going to be the crappy cut version!
they're sitting on GOLD here!

the 'original' is the crappy cut version, holmes. cammell did a shitty LA edit on it while roeg was doing 'walkabout'.

well either way, there's a proper actual 17 minutes longer uncut version alledged to have been shown at arthouse cinemas etc. and that's what we're after. i mean if it can happen with THE WICKER MAN then i guess there's hope.

good lord! from IMDB :
At a test screening in Santa Monica in March 1970, one Warner executive's wife vomited with shock in response to the film...

What's good is to watch this back-to-back with Joe, starring Susan Sarandon. Sorry, i mean BAD. What's BAD is to do that.

funnily enough it was BAD who sampled the film on their 1984 hit E=MC2. not that funny, obv.
