Tom Ewing, proud papa!

Okay, the man without whom has this to say:

Advent!
At 2.22pm this afternoon my wife Isabel gave birth to an 8 lb 4 oz boy!

Mother and son are both doing fine and should be home tomorrow. Isabel had a nightmare labour though (lots of discomfort and then a far-too-rushed induction) so she may be in a fair bit of discomfort for the next few weeks. (She's also too groggy to think about the baby name until tomorrow!) However, we're both delighted and I am incredibly proud of her.

:-) Post felicitations here, there, everywhere!

toby (tsg20), Saturday, 2 December 2006 12:53 (seventeen years ago) link

8lb 4oz is quite big for a first child, isn't it? I think that's about what I was and they thought I was going to be twins. So I should add extra good thoughts for Isabel.

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Saturday, 2 December 2006 13:03 (seventeen years ago) link

yay! congratulations!

"8lb 4oz is quite big for a first child, isn't it? "

I think so, but not really *over the top*. Ophelia was about that weight. I was 4 kilos 500 grams! My grandfather? FIVE KILOS. WTF!

nathalie (stevienixed), Saturday, 2 December 2006 16:49 (seventeen years ago) link

They didn't have kilos when I was born.

Many, many congratulations to the Ewings! All these wonderful ILX offspring - at this rate, we're going to need an "I Love Babies" board :)

C J (C J), Saturday, 2 December 2006 16:54 (seventeen years ago) link

My friend, who is about 5ft two and very slender of frame gave birth to a 10lb baby. It took 24 hours and ended in an emergency c-section. You'd think they could have done it a bit sooner, wouldn't you?

Madchen (Madchen), Sunday, 3 December 2006 12:34 (seventeen years ago) link

congratulations tom and family!

CarsmileSteve (Carsmile Steve), Sunday, 3 December 2006 13:57 (seventeen years ago) link

Surely named after Louisa Lytton aka Ruby Allen off 'Stenders?

Strachey was my first reaction. Good middle name, too.

Tom's first responsibilities as an ILX parent are: buy a digital camera, get a Pro Flickr account.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Sunday, 3 December 2006 23:40 (seventeen years ago) link

roffle at Carsmile, that was my first thought

step hen faps (Curt1s Stephens), Monday, 4 December 2006 07:02 (seventeen years ago) link

This is fantastic news. Many congrats Tom and Isabel!

Matt DC's name suggestion made me laugh. I was thinking more along the lines of 'Pet Shop Boys First Twenty Singles Ewing'.

Lytton is a rocking good name though.

Dr.C (Dr.C), Monday, 4 December 2006 10:56 (seventeen years ago) link

Fantastic, well done!
