Okay, let's just start off with a fuchsia misspelling, in the latest issue of Poetry, of all places, in W.S. Di Piero's poem "City Dog." "Fuschia." W.S.! You boob! You don't use spellcheck? You have no dictionary? No horticulturist friends?

this isn't grammar, neither, but what is it with UK newsprint publications and their capricious attitude towards periods, a.k.a. full stops - especially those that mark the end of an article? i run into this syndrome constantly. in last week's TLS, f'rinstance, the bizarre review of the probably bizarre-er "zombies and consciousness" (oxford press) end as follows:

"It is because he underestimates the depth and variety of zombist positions that his arguments fails"
