This is what Nu-ILX needs. When are we going to eat food then? Stet has lots of other people's money so the drinks are on him

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Tuesday, 15 August 2006 15:30 (nineteen years ago)

Have we missed Steven Seagal? There was a picture of him in the Record the other day looking enormously fat.

stet (stet), Tuesday, 15 August 2006 16:01 (nineteen years ago)

19th September. Thankfully we haven't missed it. Sadly, it's sold out. Perhaps we should just hang around outside waiting for him.

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Tuesday, 15 August 2006 16:04 (nineteen years ago)

does ailsa_xxx only post after the watershed then?

pfunkboy (Kerr), Tuesday, 15 August 2006 16:06 (nineteen years ago)

Does RJG know?

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 15 August 2006 19:47 (nineteen years ago)

hi dere.

grimly fiendish (simon), Tuesday, 15 August 2006 21:23 (nineteen years ago)

four months pass...
Well, this was a good wee thread, wasn't it?

Is anyone going to NPL tonight then? I probably am not, but I shall be in Uisge Beatha from about 8.30-ish with special guest star J*mie C****y if anyone wants to come and say hello. Then I shall probably drink too much and decide to go to NPL anyway.

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Friday, 29 December 2006 16:23 (nineteen years ago)

what, my old pal jimie cuntty is in town and didn't get in touch? bastard!

grimly fiendish (simon), Friday, 29 December 2006 17:49 (nineteen years ago)

Ho ho.

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Friday, 29 December 2006 17:51 (nineteen years ago)

i am going to spend the NY w/ some friends on this Millport (sp?) island place, hope to see more of glasgow ilx in 2007 (but i need to get a job, above all else)

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Friday, 29 December 2006 20:05 (nineteen years ago)

i am going to spend the NY w/ some friends on this Millport (sp?) island place

You, yr pals, and 300 80-year-olds.

You won't get any weed there either, btw.

stet (stet), Friday, 29 December 2006 21:17 (nineteen years ago)

Millport's magic.

Dalzinho (Dalzinho), Friday, 29 December 2006 22:29 (nineteen years ago)

I shall be in Uisge Beatha from about 8.30-ish

I popped in, on my way somewhere else, but it would've been about 8:20. Never mind.

KeefW (KeefW), Saturday, 30 December 2006 16:42 (nineteen years ago)

Ha, I saw someone that looked a bit like you as well!

I got very drunk and talked rubbish at Pat Nevin for a while. It was fun, though Pat Nevin may not necessarily agree. I think I might have agreed to go to ATP Dirty Three with a friend of a friend as well. Hmmm.

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Saturday, 30 December 2006 18:25 (nineteen years ago)

Was it Leon? Alex H used to get me mixed up for him.

KeefW (KeefW), Saturday, 30 December 2006 18:35 (nineteen years ago)

I don't know. He was someone, standing outside the Uisge Beatha, who looked a bit like you but wasn't. I didn't think to ask his name.

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Saturday, 30 December 2006 18:49 (nineteen years ago)

You should've done. I keep a register of people who look like me.

KeefW (KeefW), Saturday, 30 December 2006 18:55 (nineteen years ago)

If I see him again, I'll ask him.

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Saturday, 30 December 2006 18:58 (nineteen years ago)

Mind you do.

We should all go out for dinner again soon. Anyone care to nominate a date and place so we can have the usual fight discussion?

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 16 February 2007 13:19 (nineteen years ago)

ALSO I have now lived in Glasgow for five years.

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 16 February 2007 14:57 (nineteen years ago)

Not that you care, you bunch of fannies.

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 16 February 2007 17:34 (nineteen years ago)

Edinburgh!

KeefW (KeefW), Friday, 16 February 2007 17:35 (nineteen years ago)

Sorry... But I'd come out anyway. All these bands I've never heard of sound amazing, Ward.

KeefW (KeefW), Friday, 16 February 2007 17:35 (nineteen years ago)

Stet! Madchen is being rude to us! Zap her! :-)

(I shall be out of the country from 3rd - 18th March, so NOT THEN is my answer to date. Place, erm, I have no idea. I am a hermit and never go out any more)

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Friday, 16 February 2007 17:36 (nineteen years ago)

Ailsa, Madchen, take this to IMP before you destroy the thread for the love of god.

Also: there's a new Lebanese place on Gibson St, what about that?

stet (stet), Friday, 16 February 2007 17:45 (nineteen years ago)

you guys should go see the stunky munchkins

some time

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Friday, 16 February 2007 17:47 (nineteen years ago)

But, sir, she started it, she called us all a bunch of fannies!

What be Lebanese food like, then?

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Friday, 16 February 2007 17:49 (nineteen years ago)

I think it's an old lebanese place w/ new insides

what do they eat in lebanon or in lebanese places?

stunky munchkins do not sound appetising

crosspost

RJG (RJG), Friday, 16 February 2007 17:50 (nineteen years ago)

Kind of like Mika, but tasty (x-p)

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 16 February 2007 17:50 (nineteen years ago)

I have just discovered the LebWeb.

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 16 February 2007 17:51 (nineteen years ago)

The Lebanese place on Gibson Street's been there for a while now but it's just undergone a bit a refurbishment. I'd thoroughly recommend it though, the food's magic and you can eat till you can't see any more for fifteen quid. I dunno if they have a booze license though.

x-post

Dalzinho (Dalzinho), Friday, 16 February 2007 17:52 (nineteen years ago)

>you guys should go see the stunky munchkins

You're spying for Claire!

KeefW (KeefW), Friday, 16 February 2007 18:02 (nineteen years ago)

A suggestion. On Friday, me and Neil were at Xscape eating food. They have ten pin bowling there too. Should we go for eating in some chain or other (Frankie & Benny, Bella Italia, Ma Potter, Chiquitos, TGI Fridays, China Buffet King, Nandos (which is extremely nummy), probably something else I've forgotten) and then go bowling?

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Sunday, 18 February 2007 12:10 (nineteen years ago)

this thread is about glasgow!just kidding

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 18 February 2007 12:12 (nineteen years ago)

Hey, I started the thread, I decide what we talk about! Ha, also just kidding.

Greek food would also be nice (parked beside Konaki this afternoon and thought of this thread). Or Indian. Or Thai. Or anything else, actually. I might also put in a shout for WestBeer again, as it's lovely.

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Sunday, 18 February 2007 18:24 (nineteen years ago)

before that: ailsa and i are going for a pint on thursday night (that's right, ailsa, isn't it?) in the pot still on hope street. time TBC but it won't be before 6pm for me. i was speaking to stew beardmag the other day and told him too. come on, bros, let's fuckin' fap it up.

(i have a day off on friday too. hurrah etc.)

grimly fiendish (simon), Sunday, 18 February 2007 21:55 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, aye, yeah, Thursday. Monster Friday hangovers at work, hurrah (that Thursday aldo-FAP last year nearly killed me). I'm guessing I'll be there about 6.30-ish.

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Sunday, 18 February 2007 23:17 (nineteen years ago)

I'm looking like I'm up between 26th Feb and 5th/6th March, although there will be a couple of nights back down here for HMHB. Yes, INCLUDING THE WEEKEND (which I'll be working during the day). FAP offers taken.

I am not a crappy security guard on L O S T (much_aldo_about_nothing), Monday, 19 February 2007 09:34 (nineteen years ago)

I have to do a post-work training session on Thursday, so I'll be ready for a swift half halfterwards.

Madchen (Madchen), Monday, 19 February 2007 13:00 (nineteen years ago)

my thrice-postponed meeting with the editor at which i go "waugh waugh waugh" and he says "no" is now at 6.15pm on thursday so i'll be there by 7ish.

grimly fiendish (simon), Monday, 19 February 2007 15:26 (nineteen years ago)

It's been confirmed I'm up those days. More details to follow, I guess, but Friday 2nd or Saturday 3rd?

I am not a crappy security guard on L O S T (much_aldo_about_nothing), Monday, 19 February 2007 15:30 (nineteen years ago)

Madchen - Ailsa mentioned on the fitba thread that you used to frequent Milan. Any tips/places to see while I'm out there for the Sellic game in a fortnight?

JohnFoxxsJuno (JohnFoxxsJuno), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:13 (nineteen years ago)

Are they actually going to play the match in Milan then? I'm behind on fitba news.

Are you flying to Bergamo? If so, I recommend spending the day there, then going on to Milan for the match. I wouldn't recommend Milan as a tourist destination, frankly. It's OK if you have a native to show you around, but I know so many people who wandered about, looking through shop windows at clothes they couldn't afford, then tried and failed to find a bar because they're all hidden away in weird places.

Madchen (Madchen), Monday, 19 February 2007 17:17 (nineteen years ago)

Yep, I think they've got it back to the full capacity now after doing some renovations - electronic turnstiles/robot pie and macaroon sellers etc.

We're flying to Verona (Brescia) with erm...Ryanair, and getting the train to Milan. Our hotel is right next to the main train station/main square(?) so quite handy for being pick-pocketed I'd imagine. I'd heard the bars were a bit out of the way from a few pals who were at the game vs AC about 2 yrs ago. I've got a few of them compiling a dossier on where the cheapest Asti can be sought.

JohnFoxxsJuno (JohnFoxxsJuno), Monday, 19 February 2007 17:29 (nineteen years ago)

Al, I'm flying out of Glasgow at stupid o'clock on the morning of Saturday the 3rd, so would like early doors Friday fappage with you please, or else earlier on that week (though googlage suggests you will be elsewhere on the Wednesday - consider me jealous of that, btw).

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Monday, 19 February 2007 17:53 (nineteen years ago)

what could she mean?

RJG (RJG), Monday, 19 February 2007 18:06 (nineteen years ago)

I have been wanting to go to Nando's at Xscape for months now! I would also like to play the minigolf there. RJG & I are away to Paris a week tomorrow though.

Cathy (RJG), Monday, 19 February 2007 19:31 (nineteen years ago)

Ah shit, I think I'm supposed to being going to a friend's on Thursday for tea. I should really keep a diary so I can keep tabs on my whirlwind social life. Anyway, if there's a change of plans I'll let you know.

Stewart Smith (Stew), Monday, 19 February 2007 19:34 (nineteen years ago)

The mini-golf looks a bit rub, to be honest. Oh, it does have an Amazing Pie Company outlet within though.

(Pizza Express is the other food outlet. Don't let the Xscape website fool you into thinking they have a Cafe Rouge. They did, but it's been replaced by Bella Italia since we were last there. The cinema's still not open yet, which is annoying)

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Monday, 19 February 2007 19:36 (nineteen years ago)

More details to follow, I guess, but Friday 2nd or Saturday 3rd?

saturday 3rd is TRANS FUCKING AM at the ABC2 (with the inspiral carpets upstairs at ABC1; something is very wrong with that picture). and then i've got a housewarming party to go to.

with a "theme".

which is "childhood heroes".

my own personal theme will be "fuck that".

so anyway, yeh, friday 2 is better but it does depend on mrs f, who'll be coming back from sheffield that day ... hmm. i'll do my best.

grimly fiendish (simon), Monday, 19 February 2007 20:19 (nineteen years ago)

Fucking hell, are there tickets left for Trans Am?

I am not a crappy security guard on L O S T (much_aldo_about_nothing), Monday, 19 February 2007 20:47 (nineteen years ago)

Tickets Scotland says yes.

Captain Purple Items (nu_onimo), Monday, 19 February 2007 20:50 (nineteen years ago)

You're most likely to get stuck with a needle or picked up by a prossie around Centrale station, JohnFoxxxx. Brescia is also a bit of a dump, and not very close to Verona. Ah, northern Italy, how I miss you! Sorry this is not particularly helpful.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 13:12 (nineteen years ago)

Hope to make it along to the drink-up on Thursday, what's the full name of the pub/bar pl?

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 18:51 (nineteen years ago)

Cheers for the tip! I think we're going to try Bergamo on the Tuesday

JohnFoxxsJuno (JohnFoxxsJuno), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 19:15 (nineteen years ago)

ward: it's called the pot still. on hope street, about halfway up. if you start at central station and head north, it's on your right before you get to the (closed, i think) kilt shop that used to be a print shop, and a couple of blocks before bath street.

be superb to see you.

grimly fiendish (simon), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 21:26 (nineteen years ago)

I may manage along for a wee while tomorrow if my wife can sort someone to look after the kids

Captain Purple Items (nu_onimo), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 13:27 (nineteen years ago)

RJG i have an extra ticket for Robyn in London on March 2

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 13:32 (nineteen years ago)

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 14:43 (nineteen years ago)

I am not a crappy security guard on L O S T (much_aldo_about_nothing), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 15:28 (nineteen years ago)

You're shite at this you know.

Captain Purple Items (nu_onimo), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 15:42 (nineteen years ago)

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 15:52 (nineteen years ago)

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 15:54 (nineteen years ago)

i have long weekends that i have to use up and i remember glasgow weekends being FUN.

but then RJG is going away :(

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 15:55 (nineteen years ago)

The weekend of the 24th would be good as I will be in the country. Weekend of 31st would have a Pop League on the Friday and would also, maybe, be good.

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 17:43 (nineteen years ago)

will you be there that weekend of 31st? i might even know if i have a better job or not by then!

otherwise 24th is good as any!

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 17:56 (nineteen years ago)

thanks for the directions grimly, v. clear, see you there

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 18:06 (nineteen years ago)

I will be, yes. I might even come out! (aw, I've been out the last couple of times you've been here)

Do not plan plans around me as I am notoriously unreliable about coming out. I might have a better job by then too! Hurrah!

xpost. Yay for people coming to the pub!

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 18:07 (nineteen years ago)

I just booked tickets for robyn in london on march 29!

maybe see you in london, ken!!

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 20:23 (nineteen years ago)

Ok, count me back in for the Pot Still tomorrow. My friend has this cold that's doing the rounds so dinner is postponed. Go FAP!

Stewart Smith (Stew), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 20:53 (nineteen years ago)

Btw, I have my first shift in Oxfam books and music on Victoria Road tomorrow afternoon. Drop by if you're in the neighbourhood. :)

Stew (Stew), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 20:54 (nineteen years ago)

Yay Pot Still! Yay people! Yay hangover at work on Friday!

(are we still thinking about 7-ish, since no time has actually been decided, has it?)

xpost Yay Stew's new job!

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 20:55 (nineteen years ago)

Well, it's only voluntary, but I've always wanted to work in a record shop and foist my favourite records on the unsuspecting public, so yay indeed!
And yay Pot Still!
