Walking and eating is a recipe for indigestion at best, and food/drink all over your/a stranger's clothes at worst.

estela, Sunday, 1 January 2012 00:26 (twelve years ago) link

It's a curly wig made out of very very moldy curly fries.

I have multiple stories from the past year of almost getting jumped while walking and eating pizza because people all wanted my pizza

Walking along eating a nice apple is a very fine thing. It's hard not to feel a little jaunty, even.

Fizzles, Sunday, 1 January 2012 12:27 (twelve years ago) link

And a kebab is an interesting thing to gesticulate with - you have to sort of lift on upturned palm and gesture outwards.

one time in Paris I was walking and eating a crepe late at night and this huge African dude came up and asked for a bite, I was confused and said no, then he grabbed it from me and left

iatee, Sunday, 1 January 2012 14:28 (twelve years ago) link

that is actually the only time I have been a victim of a serious crime but I am still scarred by it, it was a delicious crepe

I ate a tangerine on the street in Buenos Aires and later read that that's one of the easiest ways to announce to everyone that you are a tourist, because basically nobody there does it.

Walking home eating a chicken kebab after a night of student drinking once, got back and realised there was garlic mayonnaise all down the front of my long black coat.

xxp Cringe at the cunning of the crepe-y caped crepe criminal of Paris!

I did this in Japan once and was later told that it was considered to be in very bad taste. Nobody called me out on it at the time though.

silverfish, Sunday, 1 January 2012 15:42 (twelve years ago) link

That's because calling people on bad taste in Japan is considered to be bad taste.

i p much resent any situation that makes me so hurried that i'm required to eat and walk at the same time, so "other"
being in that much of a hurry is to be avoided at all costs

league of women voters, Sunday, 1 January 2012 16:34 (twelve years ago) link

It's certainly the non-optimal approach, but I'll do it without compunction on the rare occasion when called for.

illegal crew member (C.K. Dexter Holland), Sunday, 1 January 2012 16:44 (twelve years ago) link

xp Yes, last time I regularly had to eat and walk was while I was working as a field service tech. I never got a lunch break, and had to eat sandwiches/etc. while travelling between offices. Possibly I resent eating and walking so much as a result.

Terrible idea.... if it's something an Aaron Sorkin character does regularly it's got to be deadly for a real person.
