It was remade by Nora Ephron as Mixed Nuts. (hohoho)

I love this movie. I had a French gf once who showed this to me and we used to quote it at length to crack each other up. Anemone and Lhermiite are funny but Balasko kind of steals this (like she often does).

I have had mixed luck showing it to non-francophones, though. There are plenty of gags but the movie's genius is in the language and it may not translate linguistically or culturally all that well.

This is a super iconic movie for French ppl. It's kind of hard to miss if you're there.
I showed it to Pamela awhile back and she laughed.

This was cheerfully grotesque, tho so blunt I imagine understanding some of the verbal stuff would've helped. Any helpline comedy that has a throwaway gag of a guy blowing his brains out in the first 15 minutes is OK by me.
