srsly, the extent to which my life is a complete and total shambles is amazing. I have got myself in waaaaaaaaaaaay over my head in about 46 things and I want to go and live in a cave in the mountains for a bit.

Help, I am stuck in America with bogan housemates.

One of them checked out my iTunes and declared that it was "shit" and "full of bands that nobody has heard of" or "Adelaide bands" despite not having a single Adelaide band on it. Afterwards he proceeded to play quality musical acts like Wolfmother and The Living End. I made my protests but he then said "I was a poof" and that I should "listen to this awesome solo" on his Living End song because "how can you hate that?"

durutti column are from adelaide now?

esoj@w3rk (esoj@w3rk), Friday, 16 February 2007 05:04 (seventeen years ago) link

I used to get shit like that too but instead of bands, bogans would say "do you live in CIVIC, you look like a CIVIC person", like saying I somehow live in a shopping mall in the centre of Caberra was an insult. Baffling.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 16 February 2007 05:08 (seventeen years ago) link

Vini Reilly used to cruise down Hindley Street in his Torana, don't you know.

special cordial? i could go a bit of that if i had more than approx 10c between me and starvation

Gem (gem ), Sunday, 18 February 2007 00:46 (seventeen years ago) link

GOod stuff Jim! Robin Guthrie-hood here you come! Or something.

Man. It is way too hot. I have pilfered the little fan we usually use either by the bed, or on the PC which overheats, and I have it pointing right at my face on the couch. With the blinds down, its bearable. I had to go out into the heat this morning and even at 9am it was poo.

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 18 February 2007 00:49 (seventeen years ago) link

the weather has gone haywire lately. it's strangely cold in perth. i went to see jenny wilson last night at a festival gig and it rained on us!

Gem (gem ), Sunday, 18 February 2007 00:51 (seventeen years ago) link

oh it was the p3bbl3s! nice one. (xxxp)

I am sitting in front of the big fan I bought last month. it makes this house bearable!! ugh, such a hotbox.

haitchwax (haitch), Sunday, 18 February 2007 01:07 (seventeen years ago) link

a friend of mine has an air conditioner in their rental house. a jealous is me

electric sound of jim [and why not] (electricsound), Sunday, 18 February 2007 01:07 (seventeen years ago) link

We have air conditioning in two bedrooms and in my studio but it's been incredibly mild today, so I just spent most of the day outside with the ducks.

It's a hard world, for little things... (papa november), Sunday, 18 February 2007 06:32 (seventeen years ago) link

do you eat duck eggs? i'm led to believe they're awesome

esoj@w3rk (esoj@w3rk), Sunday, 18 February 2007 22:44 (seventeen years ago) link

They're meant to be good for sponge cakes I think I read somewhere. More protien in the white or somesuch.

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 18 February 2007 23:24 (seventeen years ago) link

They're not laying yet, but probably will eat them when they start. We have 2 ducks and a drake, so we better make sure they've not been fertilised. Ewwwwww

Darren just bought a Rush DVD. Somebody save me from this hell.

It's a hard world, for little things... (papa november), Monday, 19 February 2007 03:51 (seventeen years ago) link

did rush ever have a big hit? i don't know if i even have a clue what they sound like

esoj@w3rk (esoj@w3rk), Monday, 19 February 2007 03:53 (seventeen years ago) link

The only Rush song I know is that one Fry is listening to when he plays space invaders in Futurama.

"I got a pocket full of quarters, my 2 liter bottle of Shasta - and my all-Rush mixtape"

It's some tune that goes on about um, spaceships or space invaders. They sound like Yes. They're supposed to be a bit terrible, unless you like that sort of overblown prog stuff.. oh wait. I forgot who I was saying that too hee *flees rapidly in other direction*.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 19 February 2007 04:10 (seventeen years ago) link

haha

i think i've only heard one yes song (owner of a lonely heart). that kind of prog is unlikely to ever be my thing but i dig weirdass obscuro prog of the kind that came out on vertigo or deram

esoj@w3rk (esoj@w3rk), Monday, 19 February 2007 04:12 (seventeen years ago) link

O that Rush song in Futurama is apaz called "Tom Sawyer".

I actually like some old Yes stuff! The drummer in one of my friends old bands loved them and used to play "Roundabout" at rehersals, and I grew to like it, I did. "Owner of a Lonely Heart" is shite, but the older, actually-proggy stuff isnt too bad, if a little erm, baroque and frilly.

Oh noes, why does mongrels thread getting all Yessed out.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 19 February 2007 04:15 (seventeen years ago) link

I said to Darren, "how can you listen to such overblown pompous crap?!" and he said, "The overblown pompousness is the main attraction!".

It's a hard world, for little things... (papa november), Monday, 19 February 2007 05:15 (seventeen years ago) link

Although, I must say, the blame really lies squarely with Guitar Hero.

It's a hard world, for little things... (papa november), Monday, 19 February 2007 05:15 (seventeen years ago) link

Hahaha, they have Rush songs in Guitar Hero? Oh man.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 19 February 2007 06:11 (seventeen years ago) link

Yup!

In other news - is it just me, or has KenC been pretending to be Lex for like the last 3 months?
