I quite liked vashti's last album! although still haven't heard the "classic" old one, roffle.

haitch (not haitch) (haitch), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 05:29 (seventeen years ago) link

I was waiting for this thread to emerge just so I can inform the world that I watched my first entire episode of Neighbours post-Izzy last night and enjoyed it like times of yore. Grrr that Paul! Already eyeing off some new piece of crumpet before he's even put the ring on poor Lynny's finger! And Janelle's new boss, what a creep and what a ludicrous set of mutton chops! Admirably over-acted by someone that knows they've only got until the end of the week before it's time to enter the mausoleum of dastardly Neighbours villans.

Heath Pardoe (badg), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 05:31 (seventeen years ago) link

I waiting for it be revived to smugly drop into conversation the fact that my house is now air conditioned throughout.

Christ did anyone just see that dreadful Simpsons episode where Marge and Homer become drunks? WTF was that?!

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 09:45 (seventeen years ago) link

Naw, I was watching reality show trash on cable.

I'm down for runnin' up on them crackers in the city hall... (papa november), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 10:47 (seventeen years ago) link

Tad (Eisbär), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 11:03 (seventeen years ago) link

I stopped watching that Simpsons ep as soon as they got to "George Lucas'" place. Booyah!

Which Futuramas were ones you hadn't seen Jim?

ohh i can't remember now :( the devil's hands one seemed new to me but i had faint recollections of seeing it before...

esoj, Wednesday, 29 November 2006 02:48 (seventeen years ago) link

I was drunk by midday today!

(Celebrating end of study, so it's alright.)

[electric sound of] esteban buttez (Estie Buttez), Wednesday, 29 November 2006 03:23 (seventeen years ago) link

I was gonna say, what (besides a cigarette) is in Nick's hands whenever we get together for a bevvie?

Mike Stuchbery, Wednesday, 29 November 2006 05:27 (seventeen years ago) link

I could totally go for some brews today, though.

Mike Stuchbery, Wednesday, 29 November 2006 05:28 (seventeen years ago) link

my fridge is full of booze at the moment, thanks to generous musicians. dangerous.

esoj, Wednesday, 29 November 2006 05:31 (seventeen years ago) link

In the 30s in tha ADL today, so them lunchtime pints was a nice treat indeed to celebrate the fact that I DON'T HAVE TO GO TO ANY MORE LECTURES, TAKE ANY MORE EXAMS AND WRITE ANY MORE ASSIGNMENTS BOOOOOOOYAH

[electric sound of] esteban buttez (Estie Buttez), Wednesday, 29 November 2006 05:48 (seventeen years ago) link

Mikey: Nick does drink when out, just wine usually. He doesn't even get drunk much anymore though, he's always complaining his stomach is upset. Dude's a stick insect, he needs BEERS.

Jim: "Devils hands are idle playthings" is the last ever ep. Was the other one maybe "bender should not be allowed on TV"? I love that one, it has Black Flag in it! =)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 29 November 2006 05:52 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh also: funniest thing in the universe: Nick really drunk. Seeing six foot five of skinnyboy falling over sideways with a crash is pretty hilarious =)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 29 November 2006 05:53 (seventeen years ago) link

Devil's Hands was the last ep!

YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT!!

[electric sound of] esteban buttez (Estie Buttez), Wednesday, 29 November 2006 05:59 (seventeen years ago) link

nar i've seen the bender on tv one many a time. i should probably just buy the box set already

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 29 November 2006 09:36 (seventeen years ago) link

I heard a rumour that if you look in the mirror and say ned's name three times, he appears and shaves off your sideburns.

goodness. terrible pseudonym. is it any good?

esoj, Thursday, 30 November 2006 05:49 (seventeen years ago) link

it is basically "soon" but with a beefed-up bottom end and a drumbreak pinched from a westbam track. I really like it! it would shut the "loveless has no bass" whingers up, in any case.

WTF LucyBelle is 17?? NO FUCKING WAY. I AM NOT THAT OLD *cries*

that sounds like an alarming amount of music i already own

esoj, Thursday, 30 November 2006 06:18 (seventeen years ago) link

Gem (gem ), Sunday, 18 February 2007 00:46 (seventeen years ago) link

GOod stuff Jim! Robin Guthrie-hood here you come! Or something.

Man. It is way too hot. I have pilfered the little fan we usually use either by the bed, or on the PC which overheats, and I have it pointing right at my face on the couch. With the blinds down, its bearable. I had to go out into the heat this morning and even at 9am it was poo.

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 18 February 2007 00:49 (seventeen years ago) link

the weather has gone haywire lately. it's strangely cold in perth. i went to see jenny wilson last night at a festival gig and it rained on us!

Gem (gem ), Sunday, 18 February 2007 00:51 (seventeen years ago) link

oh it was the p3bbl3s! nice one. (xxxp)

I am sitting in front of the big fan I bought last month. it makes this house bearable!! ugh, such a hotbox.

haitchwax (haitch), Sunday, 18 February 2007 01:07 (seventeen years ago) link

a friend of mine has an air conditioner in their rental house. a jealous is me

electric sound of jim [and why not] (electricsound), Sunday, 18 February 2007 01:07 (seventeen years ago) link

We have air conditioning in two bedrooms and in my studio but it's been incredibly mild today, so I just spent most of the day outside with the ducks.

It's a hard world, for little things... (papa november), Sunday, 18 February 2007 06:32 (seventeen years ago) link

do you eat duck eggs? i'm led to believe they're awesome

esoj@w3rk (esoj@w3rk), Sunday, 18 February 2007 22:44 (seventeen years ago) link

They're meant to be good for sponge cakes I think I read somewhere. More protien in the white or somesuch.

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 18 February 2007 23:24 (seventeen years ago) link

They're not laying yet, but probably will eat them when they start. We have 2 ducks and a drake, so we better make sure they've not been fertilised. Ewwwwww

It's a hard world, for little things... (papa november), Monday, 19 February 2007 03:49 (seventeen years ago) link

Darren just bought a Rush DVD. Somebody save me from this hell.

It's a hard world, for little things... (papa november), Monday, 19 February 2007 03:51 (seventeen years ago) link

did rush ever have a big hit? i don't know if i even have a clue what they sound like

esoj@w3rk (esoj@w3rk), Monday, 19 February 2007 03:53 (seventeen years ago) link

The only Rush song I know is that one Fry is listening to when he plays space invaders in Futurama.

"I got a pocket full of quarters, my 2 liter bottle of Shasta - and my all-Rush mixtape"

It's some tune that goes on about um, spaceships or space invaders. They sound like Yes. They're supposed to be a bit terrible, unless you like that sort of overblown prog stuff.. oh wait. I forgot who I was saying that too hee *flees rapidly in other direction*.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 19 February 2007 04:10 (seventeen years ago) link

haha

i think i've only heard one yes song (owner of a lonely heart). that kind of prog is unlikely to ever be my thing but i dig weirdass obscuro prog of the kind that came out on vertigo or deram

esoj@w3rk (esoj@w3rk), Monday, 19 February 2007 04:12 (seventeen years ago) link

O that Rush song in Futurama is apaz called "Tom Sawyer".

I actually like some old Yes stuff! The drummer in one of my friends old bands loved them and used to play "Roundabout" at rehersals, and I grew to like it, I did. "Owner of a Lonely Heart" is shite, but the older, actually-proggy stuff isnt too bad, if a little erm, baroque and frilly.

Oh noes, why does mongrels thread getting all Yessed out.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 19 February 2007 04:15 (seventeen years ago) link

I said to Darren, "how can you listen to such overblown pompous crap?!" and he said, "The overblown pompousness is the main attraction!".

It's a hard world, for little things... (papa november), Monday, 19 February 2007 05:15 (seventeen years ago) link

Although, I must say, the blame really lies squarely with Guitar Hero.

It's a hard world, for little things... (papa november), Monday, 19 February 2007 05:15 (seventeen years ago) link

Hahaha, they have Rush songs in Guitar Hero? Oh man.

haitchwax (haitch), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 21:58 (seventeen years ago) link
