In the fair definition of the term, not by some bullshit 'no but song scored that time so they can't be' defence.

Where's the 'No and John Terry is cunt' option?

Billy Dods, Saturday, 3 December 2011 17:10 (fourteen years ago)

they depend on rvp more than just abt any high level tream have depended on a single player since idk maybe roma and totti in 2k7

nakhchivan, Saturday, 3 December 2011 17:11 (fourteen years ago)

I assumed "John Terry is a cunt" is implied in all poll options

Number None, Saturday, 3 December 2011 17:11 (fourteen years ago)

Well RVI isn't the best player in the team (Song). Or even the second best (Verm). You could argue he is the most important because he scores a lot but this team can score from anywhere, including full back since Santos came.

So, no. He is an excellent footballer and we are better with him in the team. But without Walcott, Ramsey and Song he wouldn't be anywhere close to his current form.

You could make a case for Vermaelan as the 1 man though, just through comparing our defensive records with him in and out of the team.

big popppa hoy, Saturday, 3 December 2011 17:23 (fourteen years ago)

he is so far above the rest of yr team it's untrue

nakhchivan, Saturday, 3 December 2011 17:24 (fourteen years ago)

I rate Song but come on

Number None, Saturday, 3 December 2011 17:25 (fourteen years ago)

'there is a perception that his team has been unadventurous'

nakhchivan, Saturday, 3 December 2011 17:27 (fourteen years ago)

that was re villa obv

nakhchivan, Saturday, 3 December 2011 17:27 (fourteen years ago)

You guys talk like my opinion is untrue and yr different one is FACT. I would be more worried about losing Song to a big injury than RVI. But maybe that is because losing RVI to injury happens all the damn time and we have proved time and again we aren't reliant on him, no matter how good he is. Whereas you take Song and Vermaelan out the team and we lose to Blackburn and get spanked 8-2.

big popppa hoy, Saturday, 3 December 2011 17:29 (fourteen years ago)

lol it just is untrue

now that villa/torres/eto'o/drogba are on the slide he is probably the best centre forward in europe

nakhchivan, Saturday, 3 December 2011 17:34 (fourteen years ago)

yr defence is very fragile w/ injuries but then vermaelen to koscielny is a much smaller dropoff than rvp to chamakh/park

nakhchivan, Saturday, 3 December 2011 17:35 (fourteen years ago)

Cavani? Aguero? Higuain?

big popppa hoy, Saturday, 3 December 2011 17:35 (fourteen years ago)

they are great but none of them can run an attack like rvp (a #10 by nature)

nakhchivan, Saturday, 3 December 2011 17:39 (fourteen years ago)

number none otm, nakh has the rest covered

Sad Banter (p much resigned to deems), Saturday, 3 December 2011 18:23 (fourteen years ago)

song is the perfect arsenal lucas, i suppose. i like the dude, but if he's your best player - or anywhere near - then scrapping for 6th is your level and you shouldn't front otherwise

Sad Banter (p much resigned to deems), Saturday, 3 December 2011 18:44 (fourteen years ago)

Thanks for including the third option, btw

The Artist Formerly Known As Teh HoBB, Saturday, 3 December 2011 18:44 (fourteen years ago)

the 'no and jtiac' is indeed implied fwi

Sad Banter (p much resigned to deems), Saturday, 3 December 2011 18:46 (fourteen years ago)

is the normal 'yes' to say that ebjt isn't a cunt?

big popppa hoy, Saturday, 3 December 2011 19:03 (fourteen years ago)

it's implied tbh

Sad Banter (p much resigned to deems), Saturday, 3 December 2011 19:05 (fourteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

System, Sunday, 4 December 2011 00:01 (fourteen years ago)

Voted option three, natch.

James, Sunday, 4 December 2011 08:22 (fourteen years ago)

look, this is essentially gonna be 1 "No" vote and 35 "EBJT is a cunt" votes

Julie Lagger, Sunday, 4 December 2011 10:05 (fourteen years ago)

i think i voted the undiluted 'yes' tbh lest there be accusations of a taint in the ballot

Sad Banter (p much resigned to deems), Sunday, 4 December 2011 10:23 (fourteen years ago)

Voted "Yes plus EBJT is a cunt". I wouldn't have been able to live with myself had I voted otherwise.

lebateauivre, Sunday, 4 December 2011 10:27 (fourteen years ago)

y'all lack discipline imo

Sad Banter (p much resigned to deems), Sunday, 4 December 2011 11:04 (fourteen years ago)

System, Monday, 5 December 2011 00:01 (fourteen years ago)

Never in doubt.

But three "NO"'s? wtf sandbox

lebateauivre, Monday, 5 December 2011 00:08 (fourteen years ago)

ilx sambots imo

Sad Banter (p much resigned to deems), Monday, 5 December 2011 00:41 (fourteen years ago)

i voted no cuz i'm a contrarian bastard. also because iirc rvp was still playing and scoring even when arsenal were getting humped every week, so something else must be having an influence. also because if he gets injured then 15-year-old academy sensation launchpad mcquack will slot in perfectly.

m. yeux, Monday, 5 December 2011 00:53 (fourteen years ago)

that is the best thread iirc

Sad Banter (p much resigned to deems), Monday, 5 December 2011 00:58 (fourteen years ago)

but yes u are a contrarian bastard, just because a team are one-man doens't mean they operate even with that man

Sad Banter (p much resigned to deems), Monday, 5 December 2011 00:59 (fourteen years ago)

pretty sure the one-man team thesis will be put to the test at some point this season, as if Theo's 134 assists and that one goal Gervinho scored haven't disproved it already

Julie Lagger, Monday, 5 December 2011 01:13 (fourteen years ago)

and Arshavin did that thing. It was a few years back, but...

one-man-team's second-best-player can't even do his nominated job any better than one-man

Sad Banter (p much resigned to deems), Monday, 5 December 2011 01:19 (fourteen years ago)

holding yr own alongside Chris Brunt and Mark Gower is nothing to sneeze at

Sad Banter (p much resigned to deems), Monday, 5 December 2011 01:20 (fourteen years ago)

who nakh feo or rvp

Sad Banter (p much resigned to deems), Monday, 5 December 2011 01:21 (fourteen years ago)

weird absence of wolves players from both lists

Julie Lagger, Monday, 5 December 2011 01:21 (fourteen years ago)

rvp xp

kinda wonder why someone playing alongside lethal finishers like gervinho, walcott and the retired former russia #10 hasn't got even more assists tho

nakhchivan, Monday, 5 December 2011 01:22 (fourteen years ago)

because all of those natural replacements for rvp are being played on the wings ochone ochone the waste

Sad Banter (p much resigned to deems), Monday, 5 December 2011 01:23 (fourteen years ago)

maybe they could paint a big bullseye on Gervinho's forehead

that's actually not as bad as i thought tbh

Sad Banter (p much resigned to deems), Monday, 5 December 2011 01:24 (fourteen years ago)

Vermaelen the stand-out replacement for injury prone RVP there

Julie Lagger, Monday, 5 December 2011 01:25 (fourteen years ago)

spurs have five players more effective than theo, but nobody as good as one-man

spurs are a five-man team

Sad Banter (p much resigned to deems), Monday, 5 December 2011 01:26 (fourteen years ago)

as my brother pointed out we've now scored as many goals as RVP which makes us a 7 or 8 man team iirc

Julie Lagger, Monday, 5 December 2011 01:27 (fourteen years ago)

wolves are gonna struggle, looking at the stats

Sad Banter (p much resigned to deems), Monday, 5 December 2011 01:27 (fourteen years ago)

it really means you're an eight-man-not-as-good-as-one-good-man team

Sad Banter (p much resigned to deems), Monday, 5 December 2011 01:28 (fourteen years ago)

i'm well aware of that thank u very much

Julie Lagger, Monday, 5 December 2011 01:29 (fourteen years ago)

i wanted 2 b sure

Sad Banter (p much resigned to deems), Monday, 5 December 2011 01:30 (fourteen years ago)
