“They’ve taken everything that I ever did for any young person and twisted it to say that my motives were sexual or whatever,” Mr. Sandusky said. He added: “I had kid after kid after kid who might say I was a father figure. And they just twisted that all.”

Um, about your opening phrasing in that second sentence...

I think he knows that nothing he could do or say would put him in a worse position than he already is in, so he'll continue to pile on the proclamations of innocence and hope it fools enough people to serve his purposes. He's scum, but he's shrewd and calculating scum.

Yeah, really, at this point, it's not like a 'mea culpa' would save him from a massive jail sentence for the remainder of his life. Unfortunately for him, eyewitnesses are going to make his "my actions were misinterpreted" angle difficult to swallow.

I really could have chose more sensitive wording there.

If we were to keep with the 50-counts-of-child-sex-abuse-allegations-as-football-game metaphor, that would be a 15-yard penalty for taunting.

i mean i'm sure it probably will be insofar as cases like this -- but i'm sure there will be enough desperate sex offenders looking for defense attorneys to keep his practice going

i was reading somewhere yesterday about the possiblity of a guilty verdict leading to the "incompetent defense" argument from sandusky, but i guess if the evidence against a defendant is considered to be overwhelming by an appellate court, they'll deny that argument.
