Traveler bottle of Calypso rum (all I could afford) here, for two people.

camp yo lo tengo autumn sweater saturday night (rusty flathead screwdriver), Saturday, 3 December 2011 02:35 (twelve years ago) link

that gummy flavored vodka and dr pepper 10

hideous I know but its my first weekend in the new pad with my bro and his best friend and it's time to finally kick back

if you ain't gonna wash it, i ain't gonna eat it, Saturday, 3 December 2011 02:37 (twelve years ago) link

powdered hot apple cider mix + hot water + vodka
the "I don't want to go to the store"

not uplifting (Abbott), Saturday, 3 December 2011 02:38 (twelve years ago) link

(Should have said: I'm having that rum with Coke. Southern Comfort and flavored vodka are the only hard liquors I've found so far that I can drink neat.)

Sarco tequila
A drink I was not expecting to like (Bacardi torched cherry + lemonade) that I made thx to being at a dudes house and finding stuff in his liquor cabinet. And it was awesome!

PROVEN BY BOOZE SCIENCE, Saturday, 3 December 2011 05:08 (twelve years ago) link

some rye/amaro cocktail that was ok
2 glasses of malbec
back home now where i can drink what i want (weller 12)

cad, Saturday, 3 December 2011 05:18 (twelve years ago) link

this: http://www.kindredcocktails.com/cocktail/black-rose

flamed the lemon and everything. this mostly just tastes like bourbon with a hint of some other stuff tho.

silvana mangano, Saturday, 3 December 2011 05:21 (twelve years ago) link

Flamed the lemon? What's that?

Christine 'Green Leafy Dragon' Indigo, Saturday, 3 December 2011 05:28 (twelve years ago) link

respect to the boston shaker b/c i've bought a lot of stuff there but i really don't understand that drink.

i guess maybe if i liked grenadine more?

cad, Saturday, 3 December 2011 05:29 (twelve years ago) link

christine it's when you hold a lighter in front of a lemon peel and then express the oils from the peel through the flame onto a drink.

cad, Saturday, 3 December 2011 05:30 (twelve years ago) link

*takes notes* What other drinks require/are better with this method?

Christine 'Green Leafy Dragon' Indigo, Saturday, 3 December 2011 05:32 (twelve years ago) link

probably most common/famous one is to make a negroni and use a flamed orange peel.

cad, Saturday, 3 December 2011 05:32 (twelve years ago) link

yeah this drink is kind of pointless but i also haven't used any of this homemade grenadine yet and it was the first result that came up on kindred when i searched "bourbon + grenadine"

clearly i like giving thought to these things

silvana mangano, Saturday, 3 December 2011 05:34 (twelve years ago) link

make a ward 8! i guess it's originally rye not bourbon but whatever.

http://www.esquire.com/drinks/ward-eight-drink-recipe

cad, Saturday, 3 December 2011 05:37 (twelve years ago) link

Only two in on the fidyz. So good but also kicking my ass

Carnitas, Saturday, 3 December 2011 05:38 (twelve years ago) link

ooh! definitely gonna make that next, cad

silvana mangano, Saturday, 3 December 2011 05:41 (twelve years ago) link

If you have bourbon and grenadine, why not make a New York, New York? I can't remember the exact recipe, but it's a martini with bourbon instead of the gin and grenadine instead of the vermouth. I like it better than a Ward 8.

Christine 'Green Leafy Dragon' Indigo, Saturday, 3 December 2011 05:45 (twelve years ago) link

that does look good but i made the ward 8. might be up for a hat trick, tho :)

silvana mangano, Saturday, 3 December 2011 06:06 (twelve years ago) link

I hate being poor and just having one bottle of rum or bourbon or wine on hand. I want my liquor cabinet back! I miss my polar bears, my chocolate martinis, my belladonnas....

Christine 'Green Leafy Dragon' Indigo, Saturday, 3 December 2011 06:13 (twelve years ago) link

I'm so used to drinking at bars and spending fixed amounts of money to get my buzz, that now that I live with dudes who have oodles of liquor, I actually went to bed feeling shame last night because I've become conditioned to associate the buzz I had with spending $15-20...had to keep reminding myself I didn't actually pay for any drinks!

if you ain't gonna wash it, i ain't gonna eat it, Saturday, 3 December 2011 12:34 (twelve years ago) link

some Venezuelan rum that tasted nice, ice, soda, squeeze of lime. if only the pub wasn't fucking horrible i cd've rocked those all night

Julie Lagger, Saturday, 3 December 2011 12:37 (twelve years ago) link

rum rickey!

lxy, Saturday, 3 December 2011 13:59 (twelve years ago) link

Bottle of Boulevard Amber Ale, PBR Tall Boy at the Silver Ballroom (where Punk Rock meets Pinball). Fun night.

Mr. Farmer, Saturday, 3 December 2011 14:49 (twelve years ago) link

i pioneered the rum rickey a month ago or so, wanted to taste the rum without smothering it in coke or anything. it's a winner.

Julie Lagger, Saturday, 3 December 2011 15:42 (twelve years ago) link

sandbox & rum rickey go way back, so perfect timing <3

lxy, Saturday, 3 December 2011 16:22 (twelve years ago) link

Standard bottle o'chardonnay for me, YellowTail brand, very good dry drop for $10. Trying to diet/cut back at the mo so I'm only allowing weekend drinking, so I'm enjoying this small window.

I have a jug of Kentucky Gentleman (which was my late father-in-law's favorite booze, BTW). Tonight, we are planning to make a considerable amount of it into bourbon-and-cokes, old fashioneds, and New York, New Yorks.
