Advertising only works so far (partly due to shite like AdBlock), but there are only so many ways to make money, other than getting people to pay for no adverts (IE the Spotify 'business plan'), or just paying for the service. What sort of features would make you pay for Twitter, Alex? I'm genuinely curious - I don't use it for much, so I don't know what bits chafe.

disclaimer: Spotify gets £10 of my cash every month, but I get to walk around listening to any song I want, even offline, so I figure that's a fair price for the future.

I was looking for info following an episode of "Davina's Million Pound Drop", I'd forgot one of the questions that had caused two couples to get eliminated in round one. I found Davina's personal twitter acc.

So, a short summary of contributors (other than herself):
3 = "Wow what a show U are great"
1 = "Are you still in the pay of the NHS? and how much are you coining in promoting home births even though they are dangerous but 'saving' the NHS money?
2 = "You are the most irritating TV personality ever"
2 = "You hurt the wasp?"
1 = "Wow great upskirt pic again!"

(ref the NHS one, she ended up going into great detail about how much extra services she had to pay for, also that somebody seems to be using her name without authority for their home-birth services, etc. and that she was going to pursue the matter the next day. Which impressed the original tweeter not at all)

And that seemed to be a particularly 'nice' set of comments.

it is mainly film-junk - like looking at it now the most recent 20 things on there are super-boring - & some bragging about how i used some real good scissors recently but yeah, @ f1lmclubbr1stol, de-weatherproofed for googlin &c. you have one you don't post to, or? I remember it starting in 2007, and the killer app, back crucially when your twitters* would be texted to your phone, was that there were twitter feeds for each of the London Underground subway lines, and you could get near-real-time updates if any of them were delayed, to plan your journey. It sort of took off a bit, then hovered around forever, and I only really remember it coming back in 2009, with Ashton Kutcher / Stephen Fry, when the real killer app of "Do you want to know what your favourite celebrities really think?" appeared.
