spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 27 July 2009 18:15 (eleven years ago) link

ok i have done

professional responsibility

lxy, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 03:00 (eleven years ago) link

2. Chant "HARBL ROCKS" from the rooftop while facing east, in a city on the opposite coast.

jaq, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 03:09 (eleven years ago) link

3. develop an urgent need for lawyerly assistance

lxy, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 03:21 (eleven years ago) link

lxy, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 16:22 (eleven years ago) link

is it done, when is it done?

lxy, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 19:53 (eleven years ago) link

maybe day 1 is done by now?
hope you knocked it out, harbs!

te,he (tehresa), Tuesday, 28 July 2009 21:14 (eleven years ago) link

hi
it was ok. i know i botched a couple things and forgot some stuff in my haste but everyone did. i wrote something for every question. the only big failures were a contracts question i got frazzled on and answered in a really bizarre order and part of an evidence question that had a rule i could never understand (but it had 6 parts that i answered most of). secured transactions question was identical to one i did in practice. no con law questions. ok not gonna think about it anymore!

spite n ease (harbl), Tuesday, 28 July 2009 22:02 (eleven years ago) link

anyway i think i'm gonna pass. multiple choice all day tomorrow, which is hard, but more studying won't help. i don't know what to do with myself!

spite n ease (harbl), Tuesday, 28 July 2009 22:02 (eleven years ago) link

i keep thinking of what other stuff i did wrong. it's so hard not to ugh

spite n ease (harbl), Tuesday, 28 July 2009 22:04 (eleven years ago) link

i think you should go out to a movie. good distraction.
way to go!!

te,he (tehresa), Tuesday, 28 July 2009 22:10 (eleven years ago) link

there doesn't seem to be anything i want to see. maybe i'll start a new book. had to bring both of my books back before they were done :(

spite n ease (harbl), Tuesday, 28 July 2009 22:23 (eleven years ago) link

i will probably just sit here and waste time on the internet

spite n ease (harbl), Tuesday, 28 July 2009 22:34 (eleven years ago) link

harbl! i'm glad you got through day 1.

estela, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 22:39 (eleven years ago) link

yes! thank you estrella.

spite n ease (harbl), Tuesday, 28 July 2009 22:41 (eleven years ago) link

GOOD JOB!!!! You made through the first ever day of this special kind of hell. (xpost)

Is there a small animal nearby you can play with? Rolling around on the floor playing with one can be excellent.

jaq, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 22:42 (eleven years ago) link

yeah i can play with the cat but she sleeps from 8 am to 9 pm mostly. now i am watching her sleep half on her back with her legs spread open and in the air. yesterday when i was laying on my back reading flashcards out loud she would jump up on the bed with a chirp and lay down on my stomach. lol cats.

spite n ease (harbl), Tuesday, 28 July 2009 22:47 (eleven years ago) link

one thing i was amazed at was the number of people who didn't come back for the afternoon session! there were a number of empty seats. that must feel bad.

spite n ease (harbl), Tuesday, 28 July 2009 22:48 (eleven years ago) link

maybe your fruit flies will be up for a game.

estela, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 22:50 (eleven years ago) link

ha that reminds me it's garbage day thanks

spite n ease (harbl), Tuesday, 28 July 2009 22:53 (eleven years ago) link

a good thing to consider about all those empty seats this afternoon is that those who complete the exam must have a much higher pass rate than the statistics indicate.

estela, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 22:56 (eleven years ago) link

yeah, the scores are also adjusted so anyone that shows up and gets only a few points is bringing down the mean score, which is good (for me)

spite n ease (harbl), Tuesday, 28 July 2009 22:59 (eleven years ago) link

you are the only person in that exam room we care about.

estela, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 23:33 (eleven years ago) link

you guys shoulda seen how many people in the room though! it's in a convention center "expo hall" so if you imagine an "expo" of your choice, it's the room without the boat 'n' rv show exhibits and just rows and rows of tables w/ 2 people at each. about 2/3 of the room is for laptop people, the rest for handwriters. it must have looked so strange to a normal person, or maybe if an alien came and this is the first thing it saw.

spite n ease (harbl), Tuesday, 28 July 2009 23:44 (eleven years ago) link

they have those downstairs below my work and it's always CPA tests. one time there were a bunch of girls out front waiting for the test to get over, holding signs to congratulate their boyfriends. my favorite sign said THE SUMMER OF OUR LIVES STARTS NOW

jergins, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 23:46 (eleven years ago) link

not going. already re-budgeted my saved $273.

oh, l&j! the sweater i was starting at your house...i'm still cranking away at it but it's almost done! i may run out of yarn. by like 100 ft. oops!

spite n ease (harbl), Sunday, 28 April 2019 23:55 (one year ago) link

two great pieces of news!

will you finish with a different yarn? an ongoing reminder of measure twice cut once?

lxy, Monday, 29 April 2019 15:16 (one year ago) link

well it turns out i may have exactly the right amount. or i will be like 1 ft short and will use my swatch. this is a mass produced kind so i could get more but they come in giant skeins that cost like $20. so i'd have to find a partial one on the internet.

spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 29 April 2019 22:04 (one year ago) link

please post pix. or come back wearing it.

lxy, Tuesday, 30 April 2019 15:19 (one year ago) link

i am in fact 2 ft short. working on it.

spite n ease (harbl), Wednesday, 1 May 2019 21:58 (one year ago) link

so my new job is looking to add a 4th supervisor. i have been there one month. i am crazy but not unstable and i think i would be a good supervisor. but if i apply and don't get it, will there be office politics problems? weirdness? it's only open to people already working there.

spite n ease (harbl), Wednesday, 1 May 2019 22:00 (one year ago) link

can you guarantee no office politics or weirdness under any circumstances

if not go for the option with more cash/holidays/lackeys imo

esperantzen (p much resigned to deems), Wednesday, 1 May 2019 22:32 (one year ago) link

i spent years supervising part-time student staff, then full-time professional staff, then no staff, now part-time student staff and full-time professional staff. i am a good supervisor but i hate it and wish there had been a way for me to advance without becoming a supervisor again.

so, i am not a good person to ask.

lxy, Wednesday, 1 May 2019 22:55 (one year ago) link

yes this is also true managing people is horrible

i trust this has all been helpful obv

esperantzen (p much resigned to deems), Thursday, 2 May 2019 08:29 (one year ago) link

well

lol

i figured out that they demoted one of the 3 supervisors who it only took me a few weeks to determine i did not like. her last action was a scoldy email to everyone about different rules that were being broken. we had a big meeting on friday about some things that were going on before i got there. i think after that meeting she was demoted by the other bosses who had the meeting. i am still on some of the wrong email groups and missing half the emails. i was wondering why she has sort of disappeared.

i am thinking i will apply but i still have a couple weeks to decide. i may have a quality that is needed. because i come from a well-run district everyone likes and this is a messy one with retention problems (i knew this coming in--i am here for the good commute tbh, and won't die if i only last a few years here because i was thinking about moving on in that time frame anyway).

theRZA the JZA and the NDB (darraghmac) wrote this on thread 77 job interview pro tips on board 7Curtis's 7borad on 13-Sep-2019

ive applied for a job i didnt think was a good fit but after mapping my competencies now feel I'm the natural person for the role but i dont want it and would refuse it I'm only applying for the experience but when i dont get shortlisted ill shit fury and i referred to it just there as a rollercoaster of promotions

hi

esperantzen (p much resigned to deems), Saturday, 14 September 2019 09:09 (one year ago) link

well, i hope i do get it. i'm trying to convince myself i might *not* get it so it won't be so difficult to be rejected, but i think my chances are decent? also they did have to re-list the job for an extra week after it first closed, so maybe they didn't get many applicants they wanted. my writing sample was really good.

spite n ease (harbl), Saturday, 14 September 2019 13:36 (one year ago) link

i got my pension statement today and i'm excited at the thought that if i continue on my current pace of never using sick leave i can retire in january of 2039. accrued sick leave can subtract from your eligibility date. i will be 54. i just need to save up enough money to get me through the following 40 years. it'll be easy. also i am going to retire in spain, uruguay, or bulgaria. everyone is invited to come stay with me.
