2 more years til it hits. I wonder how many overt Lovecraft refs they'll be able to sneak into this one.

Ron Perlman will be 58 then.

The first movie was half-disappointing, especially with the monsters (just multiple copies of the same silly CGI creature). Hope they'll improve on that.

Funnily enough, even though it wasn't nearly as faithful to the original comic, Constantine outshone Hellboy in every aspect, except that Perlman is way more charismatic than Keanu.

i am so nerd-excited about the sequel. first one could've been better and it didn't help that a scene got cut in the theatrical release, but it was solid.

Constantine: not as bad as everyone said. I don't know if it outshone anything, though.

There were little instances of awesome in Constantine (Peter Stormare, the occasional demon ass-kicking, how incredibly fucking macabre everything got at the end--FOR FUCKS SAKE ROMANTIC SCENE ON BUILDING WHERE YR TWIN KILLED HERSELF) but as a whole it was very bad. Hellboy was cheesy and had little cracks and flaws but it made me happy.

I liked most of Constantine, but not the Americanized bits(Keanu, L.A., etc). Most of the other parts seemed pretty true(opening with an exorcism, the mad angel, peter stormare, the weird occult info source who gets offed, the stylish daemon, hanging out with a voodoo underworld type, etc).
