ENOUGH

temporary enrique (temporary enrique), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 14:04 (nineteen years ago)

I bring my child. But, hey, it's my parents' shop and they don't mind. Quite difficult to do really. Hence why I am probably bringing my second child to a daycare a couple of days a week.

Mark, did you just watch 24 season three?

nathalie (stevienixed), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 14:06 (nineteen years ago)

I have never seen 24 in my life. I don't own a TV.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 14:07 (nineteen years ago)

That's wise. If you had a TV it'd stunt your cultural growth and make you dull.

no children here, none of us have any. I think in small doses it might be okay. really depends on the type of work environment. Luckily these a really good daycare on premises here so I look forward to a child being close while I'm doing the working mom thing.

I used to have a TV and it did. I am not sure there's a cure. Anyway, answer the question!

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 14:09 (nineteen years ago)

i often send my kids to work and stay at home, see how *they* like it.

temporary enrique (temporary enrique), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 14:13 (nineteen years ago)

does he really, Flipper?

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 14:14 (nineteen years ago)

This is why God invented Gameboy.

Could have watched on yr laptop. :-P

I don't know if it's a good idea, really. For me it was great cause I could breastfeed and watch every step my child takes/took. Our employee also took her baby to work for a couple of months. It's not an ideal situation cause it's nearly impossible to get the same amount of work done, if any, but I do like having my kid around.

Did 24 invent the concept of bringing your kids to work?

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 18:43 (nineteen years ago)

Loads of crappy temping jobs I've had have been covering for people on maternity leave, which invariably means sitting in an office whilst person on maternity leave brings in squawking brat whilst everyone except me (who doesn't know the person on maternity leave, since I'm replacing them) goes all goo-gaa menko at it.

My old boss' wife use to leave the kids with him for an hour while she went shopping. The other two lassies in the office used to be all "woo, come here kids, we'll play with you/let you staple yourself to the desk/scribble on client files with marker pens" etc while I just sat in the corner and wept silently to myself at the ridiculousness of it all. There's a time and a place for kids, and in my office during working hours is neither.

once knew someone who'd bring her 3 kids into the office when they were sick and could not go to school/daycare... i remember the pink eye days - think the rest of the office stayed home.

There's currently an extended family (grandma, grandpa, mom, child - none of whom I recognize) in the company breakroom, trying to sort out what snack from the vending machine would be OK for the child to have.

I brought my brother into work last week. But he's 35 and was hungover, and looked at our specacular 27th floor sweeping bay views and went "eh", and left again. I suppose thats not quite the same thing =)
