My friend has a Homer Simpson bottle opener, which says "Mmm, beer... Woo-hoo!" every time you open a bottle. That is the best.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 17:58 (seventeen years ago) link

I have a beer belly.

Maria :D (Maria :D), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 17:59 (seventeen years ago) link

I had that bottle opener Tuomas, but I wore the battery out.

I prefer gin.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 18:01 (seventeen years ago) link

I like beer - but it doesn't like me!

DavidM (DavidM), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 18:01 (seventeen years ago) link

I had that bottle opener Tuomas, but I wore the battery out.

So it was you who took it!

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 18:01 (seventeen years ago) link

At least you could've replaced the battery!

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 18:01 (seventeen years ago) link

What Madchen said, though I did have some beer on Saturday.

Michael White (Miguelito), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 18:06 (seventeen years ago) link

I hate beer.

(my beer belly is really going away! okay, it was mostly a chocolate and bread belly.)

impermanent rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 18:11 (seventeen years ago) link

What beers are girly?

Captain Purple Items (nu_onimo), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 18:15 (seventeen years ago) link

amstel light, corona, heineken

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 18:15 (seventeen years ago) link

fruity beers are pretty girly, like raspberry ale and whatever

impermanent rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 18:16 (seventeen years ago) link

Lambic

Maria :D (Maria :D), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 18:16 (seventeen years ago) link

I like Corona.

Captain Purple Items (nu_onimo), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 18:16 (seventeen years ago) link

a shandy doesn't really count as beer does it?

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 18:17 (seventeen years ago) link

pale ales, carlsberg

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 18:19 (seventeen years ago) link

Lambics are the only beers that I can think of as remotely girly. Otherwise, most girls I know drink everything guys do.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 18:19 (seventeen years ago) link

i'm pretty sure you would get punched if you ordered a shandy in canada
whether you are a girl or not

i mean, i didn't even know there was such a thing until i visited london

impermanent rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 18:19 (seventeen years ago) link

I adore fruit beers. Fruli is the best!

unfished business (Scourage), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 18:20 (seventeen years ago) link

Is Whitbread Pale Ale a girly drink? I've only ever seen old men drinking it in social clubs.

(Is UK pale ale different from US pale ale?)

Captain Purple Items (nu_onimo), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 18:20 (seventeen years ago) link

we're calling the new Artois Peeterman thing 'childbeater'

resumo impetus (blueski), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 18:21 (seventeen years ago) link

The first beer I ever ordered in a bar was a SAM ADAMS CHERRY WHEAT.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 18:23 (seventeen years ago) link

i'm pretty sure you would get punched if you ordered a shandy in canada

i think i'm in love with canada!!

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 18:25 (seventeen years ago) link

wtf kind of bars are you going to, jaymc?

Allyzay heard you got beat up in a club. (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 18:30 (seventeen years ago) link

(Is UK pale ale different from US pale ale?)

I would say so. Especially as of late, when it seems that American breweries are all involved in some sort of macho hops one-upsmanship, cramming as much into every batch as possible without having them actually floating in the bottles (which is probably not too far off in the future) -- this is not just with Pale Ale/IPA styles either, mind you.

danno martinez (danno martinez), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 18:49 (seventeen years ago) link

(not American macro-breweries obv.)

Dunno what part of Canada you live in but it's in all of the deps in quebec and all of the lcbos in ontario... they have 'extreme' marketing angle though, there's a brand called TORNADO i think

Will M. (Will M.), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 22:31 (seventeen years ago) link

wtf kind of bars are you going to, jaymc?

This was the Pilsen Klub, a great little place with a fireplace that was literally underneath a frat bar called Waldo's a couple blocks away from campus.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 22:37 (seventeen years ago) link

or wait... tornado may technically be "flavoured malt beverage" which is perhaps even worse than shandy? or is it? wikipedia is not very descriptive on the girly factor.

TS: smirnoff ice vs. shandy vs. mike's hard vs. tornado vs. etc

Will M. (Will M.), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 22:42 (seventeen years ago) link

The UK pale ales I've drunk have been plenty hoppy.

M.V. (M.V.), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 03:15 (seventeen years ago) link

shandy is a freakin treat compared to those bottled crimes against the good name of alcohol
