during jan&feb my hydro bill is 2.5 times my summer bill. due both to heating and the longass hot showers which i cannot not have.

impermanent rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 16:58 (nineteen years ago)

Have you ever stayed late at work where it is warm to save on heatings bills?

I totally haven't!!!

Are the boring threads some kind of running joke? Cuz even if they are, they're making me hate this place.

some people say 'be'holder, but have they worked as a professional copyeditor?

temporary enrique (temporary enrique), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 17:01 (nineteen years ago)

Ok wait obviously they are - I didn't realize at first the scope of their proliferation.

Shadowcat (A-Ron Hubbard), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 17:02 (nineteen years ago)

hahaha to meta

okay but DON'T turn your heat OFF (maybe down a bit tho) when you leave yr apt b/c then you just have to turn it back on and it takes a lot of energy to re-heat yr whole apartment/house again. srsly. it does.

impermanent rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 17:02 (nineteen years ago)

it's not enough to work, you have to work WELL

electricity bills in winter are THE WORST!!!!!

My city utilities (electric/water/sewage/trash) cost half as much in the winter compared to summer. Natural gas bill = 20X higher. This year we're finally getting smart and turning the central heat way down and using electric space heaters.

sterl clover (s_clover), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 19:08 (nineteen years ago)

the jean teasdale threads are perplexing today.

I suspect this varies largely by region but our winter electric bill runs $150 or so a mth and summer is usually $250-300

Ms Misery (MsMisery), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 19:11 (nineteen years ago)

because of air-conditioning?

impermanent rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 19:19 (nineteen years ago)

yes. although I'm not really sure why our winter bill is so high. our heat is gas and we don't run it much.

Ms Misery (MsMisery), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 19:21 (nineteen years ago)

Oh man you know what else rules in winter? BLANKETS.
