I did because i realized that one bookshelf had more red books on it and the other one was mainly blue and green books.

Has this ever happened to you?

Only when paperbacks end up on the hardback bookshelf by mistake.

Have you ever forgotten something after you'd already left the house?

How old were you when you realised you could lift the cutlery holder completely out of the dishwasher and bring it over to the cutlery drawer?

Have you ever gone to work wearing your slippers by mistake?

Have you ever wondered how much inanity you can read in one day?

No, but I have forgotten my keys and walked all the way home worried and then said "oh silly, they're in my other pocket".

It's like when you're looking for your glasses and there they are - on your head!

why it's almost as if you people don't WANT threads to be started.

We could always go back to having 300 nasty meta-threads a day instead.

I almost thought "huh?" but then i realized this is ilx.

I am really delighted by the dishwasher/cutlery tip. i don't have a dishwasher, so it's not a daily thing that would occur to me, but it never occurred to me! So, this thread has changed my life. Oh, the simple things....

What's wrong with just moving the bookshelf?

M Grout (Mark Grout), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 13:57 (seventeen years ago) link

Or moving house altogether?

C J (C J), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 13:58 (seventeen years ago) link

I moved the bookshelf, too! I moved it over to the Paisley Alcove in order to make room for the new bookshelf. But then I ended up having to move it back when I bought the elephant lamp, which exactly fit the space that my old bookshelf left.

Have you ever moved a book from one bookshelf to another?

Does it seem kind of hilarious to anyone else to ask this question on an internet forum almost primarily populated by librarians?

Um... 34.

Handgun O. Mendocino (pullapartgirl), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 14:34 (seventeen years ago) link

Our novels are alphabetized, currently with A-N downstairs and O-Z upstairs, so if we buy a bunch of beginning-of-alphabet books I have to take a hunk of end-of-beginning-of-alphabet ones upstairs. Got that? Good.

I think I told this story before, but I cleaned house for a woman who had me remove all the thin books from her "library."

I finally figured this one out in my last house. Now I don't have a dishwasher in this one. Bah.

I move books all the time.

I have 2 little bookshelves and maybe 10% of my books in my dorm room, and yet I still manage to move books from one shelf to the other fairly frequently. This is because I try to keep a school shelf and a fun shelf, and keep putting fun books on my school shelf.
