if you flood a fire with oxygen, would that put it out quickly? would it like burn itself out?

temporary enrique (temporary enrique), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 12:26 (seventeen years ago) link

are you currently on fire?

C J (C J), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 12:28 (seventeen years ago) link

Depends what you were burning but in most cases, no; because unless the oxygen is well mixed with whatever is burning. The rate of burning will be increased.

you'll need twice the amount of hydrogen for it to work. (H2O joek LOL)

StanM (StanM), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 12:30 (seventeen years ago) link

ok say this was a sealed chamber (on board a spaceship since you ask) with a large quantity of fuel (well, vegetation) in it. the rate of burning is vivibly increased, i can vouch for that.

temporary enrique (temporary enrique), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 12:31 (seventeen years ago) link

btw this is kind of spoilery, film fans.
