I had to laugh at the idiot who said rock and roll is dying. If anything, it is going through a rebirth with more interest than ever in guitar-driven rock.
That said, Eddie is without a doubt, the greatest guitarist ever in rock and roll. Simply put, there has never been anyone who can come near him as a musician.
I preferred Sam over Dave, but think this is great news. I look forward to hearing that guitar again and seeing these guys play.

Hey, GET OVER YOURSELF:
Good comeback.
Try to be coherent next time.
Go call your parents and have them pick you up from detention already and get off the school’s computer.

SINNED515TOO is right. They are going to release ANOTHER greatest hits package, the roth years. Not a “new” album.
more ripoffs soon to come.
hey, will eddie and wolfie share groupies and booze/drugs as well ?
What if they were and found out it was Valerie.
Atomic Punk | 2/19/2007, 5:53 pm EST
Anthony was Van Halen. He’d down a bottle of Jack then pound on his bass until it felt like the building was coming off its foundation. Basic is not simple.
Anyone who be-littles his importance has never seen the band live.
O -
and by the way,
Dave never claimed to be a great singer and Van Halen was never about the fans,
being arrogant was part of the persona that made them great.
We’re better than you are…
(The first sounds you hear on the first album is the bass. Keep that in mind.)

Michael Anthony kind of just does whatever. Probably doesn’t pick up a bass except when on tour or recording. He was always just waiting around until Eddie and Alex had something for him to play.
Michael Anthony is like your typical person at work that shows up on time, leaves exactly on time, takes the full lunch hour, and just follows directions without having any type of work ethic or desire to do more. This is why he didn’t fit into Van Halen. Aside from a singer, an instrumentalist in Van Halen requires a 24/7 allowance. This wasn’t happening with Anthony. Now, you have Wolfgang (eddie jr) making and inventing music with EVH and actually contributing. Van Halen is an upgrade with Wolfgang. Who cares you the singer is.

WHY DID DAVE PLAY ON HIS OWN TRIBUTE ALBUM.HE WAS FRIGGIN VAN HALEN. IT WAS COUNTRY AS WELL.WHY, WHY WHY.THIS IS NOT THE VAN HALEN WE WANT TO SEE

I saw the Sam and Dave show.
I wanted Dave to kick ass. I wanted a good show.
Dave could not deliver. He “talks ” not sings through songs.
He brought out his little swords.
it was quite silly
and now some 15 year old snot nosed kid takes the place of the mighty michael anthony.

Steve Millan:
There IS no new album. It’s a new release of old VH tunes. You probably have them all already. The only difference is that it’s limited to DLR tunes ONLY.
No indication of anything new on that release!

THIS IS A MISTAKE FOR ALL THE FANS WHO HUNG IN THERE.
SAY GOODNIGHT. TURN OFF THE LIGHTS. DAVE IS WASHED UP
sinned515too | 2/19/2007, 4:53 pm EST
I think fans are different these days in general; more critical and expecting more because we pay more.
There’s a lot of talk on here and general sentiment at fans’ disappointment with the 2004 tour which centers around Eddie’s alcoholism.
Thousands of us have seen VH perform on dozens of occasions, with DLR, or Hagar, or both. Many of us know from experience Eddie’s capabilities to play and perform. Those who have that experience witnessed first hand that Eddie was a wreck on the last tour and, on more dates than not, an utter embarrassment to himself and the band. What we were watching was one of the greatest guitarists of our generation waste away in front of our very eyes. And for that matter, at about $200.00 a pop!
People change and Ed can too. Not to pass judgement on him, but in any former media gigs with him (past and present), he passes the blame on others and doesn’t seem to care about his lack of performance.
I really wish that Ed would get his act together, but part of the reason I’m not going to see them in 2007 is because I still think Eddie owes me about $180.27 in performance from 2004.
His track record’s not great in being non-f*cked up during a gig.
For cryin’ out loud, Eddie, drink and do whatever the hell you want AFTER the show!!!
BALTIMORE MD. | 2/19/2007, 4:51 pm EST
ALL YOU DOOM AND GLOOM TYPES ARE GOING TO BE LICKIN’ YOUR WOUNDS WHEN THIS IS ALL SAID AND DONE. I HAVE NEVER REALIZED HOW MANY PEOPLE COULD HATE A GREAT BAND LIKE THIS ONE- THAT JUST MAKES IT ALL THE MORE SPECIAL WHEN THE REVIEWS ARE FAVORABLE.
Steven Millan | 2/19/2007, 4:49 pm EST
I would rather refer to this latest incarnation of Van Halen as either Van Halen:1.2 or simply just VH(as I personally tend to refer to them us),since David Lee Roth is back and Michael Anthony is no longer in the band, for the band with Sammy Hagar was Van Halen 2.0 and the band with Gary(Uck!)Cherone was Van Halen 3.0. And I’m tired of reading all of this on-line dogging of teenage Wolfgang Van Halen, who hasn’t been even given a chance to show his talents, for I’m sure that Wolfie has major talent that’s eagerly waiting to be heard(and that he can sing background vocals real good, too),but as far as Van Halen:The 2007 Invasion goes;just bring it on(both the tour[which I’m very eagerly waiting for]and the new album)!!!!
Matt Bible | 2/19/2007, 4:48 pm EST
Everyone needs to give it a chance. If you had the money they have you can dress how you want to as well. I look forward to hitting several shows!

Were bitching because we care about this band.I think it’s great to hear people speak their minds.
Fat Van halen boy should be jettisoned.
Reunion should have happened earlier.
Time is past.
Save your money, Go to OZZFEST, it’s free and the full Sabbath lineup will appear.

RIP Central Park Dimebag Dave | 2/19/2007, 4:40 pm EST
Has anyone seen David Weave Roth lately ?
Van Halen is done for.
Dave embarasses himself . If your a fan, it’s because of the albums and videos. Not because they Kick Ass in concert.
Hi is a guy who talks through songs, has a weird sense of showmanship. I agree with tan earlier comment. Goofy.
BALTIMORE MD. | 2/19/2007, 4:36 pm EST
THIS IS SOME KINDA CONTROVERSY. THE VAN HALEN SOAP OPERA CONTINUES. [JUMP] ON THE BANDWAGON AND EXECUTE THE ENTIRE CAST OR GIVE THEM THE CHANCE TO CARRY ON. THUMBS UP OR THUMBS DOWN- HERO OR THE GOAT- IT DOESN’T MATTER- IT’S GOING TO HAPPEN SO GO TO THE SHOW- SEE YOU THERE. QUIT BITCHIN’ AND PARTY ON.
Have you seen wolfies grades | 2/19/2007, 4:36 pm EST
This is an embarassment.
Is eddie REALLY trying to pull this off ? Does he think his fans will take whatever he’ll throw up on the wall and call it VH.
And all that excess on the road. I I wouldn’t trust Eddie with my dog,let alone a 15 year old kid. The drugs by crew members, the groupies, what is Valerie thinking ?
Eddie clearly is not.
I have also been a fan for years. I can’t except this.
I choose not to go. It will be a disaster.
Gary C | 2/19/2007, 4:32 pm EST
Here the deal. If two bands our playing in my town in the same week. Im going to see 1 band. I choose “The Other Half” Sam and Mike.Lets be real. There no way this tour makes 40 shows. If Val cared about her kid she would get wolfie away from those head cases.
Marc Tremblay | 2/19/2007, 4:19 pm EST
You know what ?
I don’t care about what they’ll play in tour or who is in the BAND,what they look twenty years later,
as long as THE BAND is still rocking hard it’s fine to me.
OH Yeah ! I forgot,
we’re talking about VAN HALEN, not one of those crappy, stupid bands
who reign in the ‘80 and try to imitate VAN HALEN .
Andy in London | 2/19/2007, 4:18 pm EST
I’ve travelled the world since 78 following these guys. I’ve loved everything about VH. Dave for the show versus Sammy for the musicianship - both brought their own magic and stamped their own identity on 2 eras of the same great band. Sadly though Ed and Al are dicks these days. Fans rate very low on their list of priorities and this tour is money and ego based, not done out of love for the music or the fans. If it was, then we’d get the real VH bassist out with them, not some 15 year old. Without Mikey it’s just not VH. Who cares if Wolfie is Eds son, he ain’t part of my favourite band all time band. I came over to the US in 2004 for the last tour and will look em up if they hit the UK, but I wont go out of my way to line their pockets this time. Oh yeah, and Dave looks the bizz. Ed looks like he’ll be lucky to survive the 40 gigs. I think I’ll head for Cabo !!!
Scotty5150 | 2/19/2007, 4:15 pm EST
It will definitely be interesting with the new lineup, but its better than nothing at all.. This tour will show that Dave still cant sing as good as Sammy, never could. Totally different eras. Each had their own magic. Hey, its still better than any new band thats out right now… Cant wait to see the show, hope they make it to my town!! Hope Wolfie shreds and shuts all you Jackasses up. Woulda been nice if Mikey was there… Would be nice if they had Sammy and Dave , and Mike, and Wolfgang sat in on a few tunes on drums, bass, and guitar.. Long live VH!!!

Sorry guys……..NEXT!
Don | 2/19/2007, 3:45 pm EST
The one thing that Michael Anthony brought to the band and to David’s vocals was his awesome background vocals. The music just won’t sound the same without Mad Anthony high pitch vocals!
Atomic Punk | 2/19/2007, 3:44 pm EST
Eddie Van Halen states, “I am very excited to get back to the core of what made VAN HALEN.”
Sorry Ed, Mikey was part of the ‘core’ of what made VAN HALEN.

Besides no new music where are the hoping to play? home depot’s parking lot? w/ special guest kenny Chesney under the CATTLEMEN’S® Barbeque Sauce tent err…covered pavilion?
sinned515too | 2/19/2007, 3:18 pm EST
The one thing that surprises me about these posts is how quickly everyone seems to forget one very, simple thing:
THERE IS NO NEW MUSIC!
I repeat:
THERE IS NO NEW MUSIC!!!
Again, Ed’s allegedly got all of these thousands of songs he’s made during his recent hiatus and the best he could poke out were a couple of less-than-mediocre porn flick instrumentals.
Once again, if we can’t hear Eddie’s new songs, do they exist?
His most recent comments don’t even allude to any new music coming with DLR. There’s not even a mention of any new songs on their already delayed, upcoming release. I’ve got every VH album already, what do I need that new release for?
Maybe people wouldn’t be so down about them if they at least had some damned teasers on their site. Their site hasn’t even released what dates they’re playing and where yet.
With these guys, no news is not necessarily good news.

People
This is not Michael Jordan returning to the Bulls… I am a VH fan and I ve been heart broken since 1985. Dave leaving the band , and it was Dave people It was his freaking EGO its ranked number 1 in the all time rock n roll tragedy lists. In my opinion they are all a bunch of idiots… the facts remains the magic is gone and Van Halen best time has passed. more than 20 years ago. So regardless if Anthony returns or is standing right there in this picture with Dave ed and alex …its pure Nostalgia … and why not have some fun with your kid? I take mine fishing all the time, they love to play together big deal , you dont like it dont pay for the ticket. but its wrong to just sit here and judge. I like this proverb. ” IF YOU CANT LIVE MY DEATH, DON”T TRY TO LIVE MY LIFE”
PEACE
Shadowriter | 2/19/2007, 2:44 pm EST
Whoever said Sammy Hagar should be shot obviously does not appreciate good music. As for this tour, I’m willing to give VH another shot. They deserve it.
KnyteOwl | 2/19/2007, 2:35 pm EST
For a bunch of people who claim to be fans, or once fans, you sure are cruel. As a long standing fan,I tend to have mis-givings about whether or not VH will live up to their reputations, I question their motives, and wish Micheal Anthony was still with them too. But man oh man! Some of the things I’ve seen said on here are south of the border, personal, and truly vile. We all have crisis in our lives, make mistakes, then pick up and try again. My attitude is simply wait and see–but I WON’T be the one to say that I kicked them when they were down with some of this vile stuff some of you are posting–you guys are heartless–you should be ashamed.

I still believe Sammy Hagar should be shot

The original Van Halen is back and I’ve been waiting for this for years. A couple of things: 1) David Lee Roth is the GREATEST frontman ever; however, Dave PLEASE don’t go in with that look- get some hair extenstions until your hair grows long again. Also bring back the spandex- this goes for the entire band- don’t try to look like a ‘modern’ band..stick to the look that made you great.
2) Edie, I realize you love your son; however, he does not belong with the ORIGINAL Van Halen- PLEASE bring back Michael Anthony.
3) Stick to how you played the songs in the 70s and 80s
Essentially if you adhere to what made you great, you will be GREAT once again….Can’t wait to see you guys…PLEASE have a date for VANCOUVER, British Columbia
J>E>A> | 2/19/2007, 1:58 pm EST
I’m disappointed at the fact that Michael Anthony isn’t in the current lineup, but as a huge fan of the “Dave Era” of VH, I look forward to this tour and wouldn’t miss it for the world, Michael Anthony or not. Wolfie will rock. I’m sure if you close your eyes at the concert, you’ll be transported back in time.

Has anyone seen Michael and Sammy’s show? If I have to hear Why Can’t This Be Love one more time I’m going to puke. Not to mention when Sammy played with VH, they played the same Dave era songs over and over. I’m shocked that any fan of Dave era VH is not excited to hear an entire sent of old VH. For those of you who play bass, you know that Michael’s bass lines are so simple to play that anyone with a hint of talent could pull this off.

The Pimp | 2/19/2007, 1:19 pm EST
Hey Brapft Sammy Hagar told the story about the royalties in his book that was never released called Red Rising. Mike also made a ton of money on disney stocks years ago he has some serious coin inthe bank. After he sits back and watched this train wreck he will be grateful he was home or dow in cabo with Sam
Brapft | 2/19/2007, 1:14 pm EST
I cant believe mike signed off on all his vh catalog rights! it doesnt make sense (not that i dont believe it, nothing with these guys surprise me anymore) but still that had to hurt, i know he made a fortune with these guys and probably still has a ton in the bank (hes the only one that hasnt been taken to the bank from what i hear, divorce wise, lawsuits ect..) but thats like signing off on your retirement/401k/ss ..! the royalties may not have been as much as they were back in the 80’s but would still keep anyone off the streets and warm with a roof over there head if something really bad happened. to play with these morons one last time?! hahaha! one even being a sarcastic drunk towards you, no way! i dont know how important fans would have meant to me for it one last time.
OPEN LETTER TO IRVING AZOFF | 2/19/2007, 12:58 pm EST
Poor Irving Azoff.
He’ll make his cut.
You have some power, tell the drunk to ditch his kid, get Mike back,Tell Dave to get the weave back on.Take Dave to the dump and tell him to throw those goofy swords out.It will be theraputic for him.You can be Daves Gene Landy.Get the publishing, Irv.
It’s Rock and Roll for for god sakes. Get a little Ertegun on these guys. Have a few drinks with Ed, Schmooze, manipulate them.
Oh, hell, just get Sammy back. At least he could sing. Sammy throws a party. Daves throws, um well, empty arenas and turned off radios.
I even heard a patient asked for another paramedic during a heartattack when she saw dimebag dave. Another patient died, because dave’s monologue was too long, and david, the beach boy, could’nt stop laughing at himself and all those old tired jokes.
This is silly. 10 years too late. I saw the Sam and Dave show. He couldn’t perform. I wanted him too. It was quite sad.
Irv, you still have Eagles
LAGlamman | 2/19/2007, 12:43 pm EST
What Dave is holding in his mouth is a device to keep his tongue from flapping.
He can only get in trouble two ways, singing or talking and it all involves his tongue.Licking Eddies ass can’t get him into trouble.
He can’t do both, hold on tight Dave, wait for the paycheck.
Bobber | 2/19/2007, 12:38 pm EST
Wasn’t Dave singing with the Beach Boys at one time.
OMG, He DOES look like Mike love, or a goofy Ice Cream man.
Daves gone, physically as well as mentally. He laughs at his own tired jokes.Eddie looks bad as well.
Wolfies is the next Gary Cherone, with visiting rights.

The Pimp | 2/19/2007, 12:28 pm EST
Also Micheal Anthony got screwed by Alex and Eddie back in 94 was forced to re do the amount he made from royalties. Alex said he did not deserve an even cut. he is the only one who cares about the fans say what you want about Sammy he cares about the fans also. Dave is kool to but Ed and Al they dont care
Nevermind | 2/19/2007, 12:26 pm EST
Dave looks great ? Kind of looks like Beach Boyish, with the stripes. Like Mike Love .
Does anyone remember Dave playing on the Strumming With the devil album.Go check out utube.
LOL, he played on his own tribute album. AND it was country. How do you laugh at Mike for playing with Hagar. At the very least Sammy can hit a note. Dave talks and squelps.
Thats it, that is it- THAT IS IT.
Stan Glickman | 2/19/2007, 12:25 pm EST
Now MSNBC has confirmed that the tour is cancelled.
GFLAIR | 2/19/2007, 12:23 pm EST
I am glad they are back. I wish Michael Anthony was too. He was DLR backup singer. I would like to see some new music from them and see them in concert before saying a bad word about them. Give the BEST rock band in America a chance!
OldVHfan | 2/19/2007, 12:23 pm EST
Does anyone know the history here ?
In order to play the last reunion tour with Hagar, Mike sighned off all of his Van Halen band rights, and took a lesser cut as a hired on pplayer. He said if it’s the last time they go out, he wanted to be there. He said he did it for the fans.
The guy is true blue.Dave is not the 70’s/80’s giant he once was.
I shall not support it.
The Pimp | 2/19/2007, 12:19 pm EST
Every one better hope Eddie makes an effort this tour because 2004 his playing was bad. Also he and his brother do not care about the fans Dave sees it as his last shot with these guys.
John | 2/19/2007, 12:18 pm EST
This picture rocks! Dave looks great. I’m pumped. They will flat out rock this year. Can’t believe people are questioning Wolfgang. Eddie is the best guitarist and musician that ever lived. To question if Wolfgang is ready is like questioning if ice comes from water. So long Michael Anthony. Too bad you joined a cover band.

J5150C | 2/19/2007, 12:06 pm EST
WOW! Van Halen is really something big! If not, none of you would be here writing all this crap!
Who cares who sings, who is young who is old, who is the hot-head, the pot-head, the brain dead, and if Valerie will save the Wolf boy. Hell, give him a chance and THEN criticize.
It’s all about the music! ED and Dave can go on tour together and we would go see them both!! Even if were at the Whiskey a Go GO! I guarantee that all of you writing “hell no, we won’t go” WILL GO!!!!! And if you had the money for one of them $30,000 Fender Frankie replicas you would buy one!
Just enjoy! Life is hard and then we ROCK!!!!!
GuitarDude5150 | 2/19/2007, 12:05 pm EST
because I love Eddie, I will give Wolfie a chance but Ed needs to realize Van Halen is not just about his guitar playing!!! Its about the songs, and correct me if I’m wrong, but he can’t sing worth crap (example: How Many Say I/VH III)!!!
Steve | 2/19/2007, 12:05 pm EST
Give it a chance before you knock the new Van Halen. Nobody thought Sammy would be good. who cares if Eddie wears a funny hat, it is all about the guitar playing, he is still the greatest, who is better? NO ONE

Yes Micheal Anthony was and is still great, but don’t you think the Wolfgang is going to be awesome, who care if he is only 15, he has the greatest teacher that anybody could ever have.Van Halen is going to blow everones mind. They are going to rock, the old way.

this is really sad. I wish Alex would knock some sense into Ed and make him realize this is ridiculous!!! Three old men and a 15-yr. old kid in bass?? yeah, I want to pay a $100 a ticket to see this line-up…NOT. Come on Alex, kick some sense into Eddie and bring back Mikey!!!
Anybody have the US Festival show on tape? Tell me Mike isn’t a huge part of the show, he covers Dave’s mistakes on vocals, he’s running all over the stage, and keeps Eddie in check!!! What the hell is Wolfie gonna do but stand in one place, staring at the bass so he won’t srew up Anthony’s bass lines??? yeah, he’s gonna be exciting to watch.

Eddie is the greatest musician since he created Van Halen. Who cares who the singer is. Mine as well be DLR. With a singer, Eddie can showcase all the talent and music he’s created over the years that was not showcased. Who cares about Michael Anthony? Granted the guy is cool and well liked and will be wierd not seeing him there. But Van Halen will have Eddie, Alex, Dave, and showcase the next best thing, Wolfgang, who we will be hearing for the next 40+ years. Van Halen Rocks!!!!
TUUK | 2/19/2007, 11:49 am EST
Didn’t EVH say in a recent interview that his kid has only been playing bass for a few months? I mean, how can the guy possibly be competent on the instrument, let alone ready to tour and replace a veteran bass player? It’s a comedy show, nothing more. I wouldn’t go see the reunited VH if they played in my own living room.
bad halen | 2/19/2007, 11:44 am EST
We didn’t create drama.
We just don’t want to accept crap for our music. The industry is hurting right now.Things like this mess it up.
Rock and Roll used to be about who and what bands made up who you were.VH fan, a Hard Rock party guy, Steely Dan, an intelectual pot smoker.King Crimson, an even higher understanding of music.IT BECOMES PERSONAL !
When an obviously out of it guitar hero (albeit, more of a has been now)schmucks up a band, it feels like the band is over.
bad halen | 2/19/2007, 11:39 am EST
There is something weird about how great people think the 15 year old is supposedly. No one has heard him.
I play bass, and bass playing isn’t in your blood. Some of the laid back bass lines kept Ed from careening off the edge.Too many notes can spoil the song.
Michael Anthony was good for roughly 30 years. Whats wrong now ?
Brapft | 2/19/2007, 11:31 am EST

we are one | 2/19/2007, 11:13 am EST
Dude,
Eddie HATES Roth. Whats changed ?.
AHHH, he can bilk his fans out of more money, HUMILIATE Michael Anthony, AND give his kid a job, most likely, because he is a poor father and needs to make his kid think that he’s a great dad.
They’ll share groupies, alcohol, smoke and do drugs together. Great Dad, Eddie ! Cool !
Here, take a job that was held and earned by the origional fifty year old guy, because your my son.I just call you a child prodigy.
Lets just say he HAD to replace Michael Anthony, which he doesn’t. Mikey would do the tour in a heartbeat. Do you give that job to YOUR TEENAGED KID ???!?!?!?!?
There are MILLIONS of great bass session and live players in L.A. Do you still give that job to YOUR TEENAGED KID ???!?
If your a responsible parent, do you allow that to happen ?!?!?!?!?!? Wheres Valerie ?
Be a real fan, and show your support like you did with VH3. Just say no.
Just say no !
Listen to your albums, go watch a VH cover band. At the very LEAST the VH Cover band WANTS to be together, has passion and loyalty to themselves and the music, and wants to put on a good show.
Although, if they ( The VH Cover band) REALLY wanted to be authentic, they would hire some teenager, hole up on their version of Howdy Doody Mountain, bilk the fans as much as they can, fight, become sloppy drunks and make porno music, get tongue cancer, hit their heads on the roof of their car.
But, the old ALBUMS sound great. Whats up with that ?!?!?!!?!?!
Dave couldn’t hold it together for the old albums ANYWAY. Live or studio.
Dave is a sad embarrasing incoherent rambling mess, with tired old jokes that he has to laugh at himself.
Or, is that Eddie ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Wow, maybe they have become one.
i got it | 2/19/2007, 11:08 am EST
One band that can hold a candle to Van Halen ?
I got one, KISS- they rip off the fans the same way, shuffle band members around, rely on their past, dress goofy.Take advantage of fans.
You seriously do not listen to new music if you think the world stopped with the Dave era VH. Thats why Rock and Roll is in the state it is.
Michael | 2/19/2007, 11:05 am EST
No Michael Anthony, no VH for me…I will not being seeing this shamockery if they played down the street for me…Dave proved he’s washed up on the Sam and Dave tour, and what the brothers did to Michael Anthony is a disgrace to the history of a great rock band…
Ed’s a punk for bringing Wolfie into this mess…
No one cares about David Lee Roth anymore except for a few still-drinking-whiskey-everyni ght losers…
i got it | 2/19/2007, 11:05 am EST

NO MIKE PLUS (15 YR OLD KID) | 2/19/2007, 11:02 am EST

David Weave Roth tried to play Vegas before. How many weeks did that last ?!?!?!?!?!?
Now, with the two Faded Retarded Titan Twins and one Teenage son, you’ll go. Game Over.
Celine Deone would be more contemporary than those retards. Hey, has Eddie begged her to join yet ???
no mike-no good
at least sammy puts on a show. have you watched dave lately ?

Dude stop listening to Justin Timberlake and thinking he is Van Halen. JT is the new MJackson, were else have we heard that high voice from. We know what happen to MJ. VH & Metallica can take off 20++ years and still kick everyone’s ass in Music. EVH had cancer he can do whatever he wants. If he wants to wear something over his dome so be it. Dude’s worth more than you. Be glad we have some music to listen to even if its 20 something years old. We have the Best Person to Present it to Us DLR.
Diamond Damien | 2/19/2007, 10:57 am EST
What’s wrong with some of you people? You should be glad that the best band ever to walk the face of the earth has reunited and is planning a comeback. Show me one band that can hold a candle to Van Halen and I’ll be silent, but I don’t think you can…
Chris Littlehead | 2/19/2007, 10:50 am EST
Dudes, Van Halen was and still is my favorite, to bad that I bought a bogus promo poster from “The Women And Children First” Tour. The fake signatures are worth about as much as the conversation regarding a world tour. Well, I have to go now as I still live in my parents basement, expecting a visit from roadies soon as they certainly won’t be setting up for a concert anytime in the near future.
BABY PLEASE DON'T GO | 2/19/2007, 10:45 am EST

SHOW US THE PICTURE, THATS HOW.
EVERYTHING WAS COOL UNTIL NO MICHAEL ANTHONY.
IT’S BAD ENOUGH DAVE AND ED-OLD AND MESSED UP.BUT TO MESS UP A KID. WHOA. SERIOUS KARMA SCREW UP HERE.
WILL VALERIE BERTINELLI LET WOLFIE TURN INTO A SLOBBERING, CIGGIE SMOKING, POT TOKING, DRUG TAKING, GROUPIE STD SANDWICHED VERSION OF EDDIE ? LIKE FATHER LIKE SON. BOTH WEAR DIAPERS.
WOLFIE IS JUST A BAD DRUNK ED EGO TRIP.
HE’S 15 YEARS OLD. HE CAN’T DRIVE YET, AND IS FORCED ON THE VH FANS. THAT IS WRONG
VHDUDE | 2/19/2007, 10:33 am EST
wolfie is a caretaker for the cryptkeeper. he changes eddies diapers midset.then, they sell them to the fans or ebay.
I was stoked until they got rid of Michael Anthony. Now I realize it’s just a sham anyway, whomever they get to front the band. Once Dave is out,ed says Wolfie sings. Keep on supporting lame EVH decisions, and you would still have Gary Cherone.

Morgan | 2/19/2007, 10:18 am EST
Better late than never. Dave and Ed comprise one of America’s greatest rock bands. Dave and Ed together had two 10-million selling releases (VH, 1984). Something Hagar has never done.
Yeah, it’s not the perfect time, the perfect chemistry or even the perfect line-up witout Mike. But I’m jacked up to see the legends, the child prodigy and even a sliver of the magic that is the Mighty Van Halen!!!

“I’ll Wait” - Off 1984
Perfect example of why Eddie needs Dave. Dave was able to write sexy, unforgetable and humorous lyrics to it. It’s about writing a love letter to a naked centerfold model! HAHAHA!!! Under Sammy’s pen it would have had trite, cliched lyrics straight off of a Hallmarks Card (Sammy owes royalties to this company!). And been a mushy, weak love song with the word “Love” in the title a la WHY CANT THIS BE LOVE, I CANT STOP LOVING YOU, LOVE COMES MARCHING IN
Expanded Consciousness | 2/19/2007, 9:26 am EST
So how awkward is the Hall Of Fame ceremony going to be now? At these things someone - maybe Ozzy or Gene Simmons - gets up and gives a whole speech praising the band, waxing eloquently about the band’s influence, success, and each member’s contribution. Surely they will mention Mike’s backing vocals. And then what? End the speach with a “Go see them on tour this year … Well, most of them, anyway … no Mike and backgroung vocals and full reunion.”
Then the band gets up there and speaks about what a grand and meaningful career they have had. And what, no one mentions Mike’s exclusion? It will be like the elephant in the room that no one talks about.
What a mess.
How much more triumphant a night it would be if it was a full reunion tour announced and talked about as they were being inducted. A full return to battle. The four original horsemen at it again. The Van Halen from your youth, from the posters on your old bedroom wall, from those old videos, from those first mega-selling, genre-defining albums, from those first 6 sold out tours (the top American grossing tours at that time - fact!).
Not this soap opera.
Eddie is a neurotic teenage girl, not a man.

Nivek J Kerley | 2/19/2007, 8:13 am EST
If you cover your right eye and squint it kinda looks like the original Van Halen line up with some guy in a weird hat stood to the right of Eddie, Dave and Alex! Man that kid looks like his Pa! I think this version of the band will be great, it’s just a shame that they won’t tour the UK, won’t release any new material, and that it’s doubtful the tour will last longer than a US Tour this summer… but hey, we could all get suprised! Stranger things have happened in the rock world of late…
Rob | 2/19/2007, 8:03 am EST
You folks have got your head too far up your ‘you know whats’. Who cares who’s playing bass. Who cares who’s singing’. VH are back on the road and let’s hope it’s the real deal this time out. Sammy was/is great and Mike will be missed but didn’t we all want to see Ed and Dave together again. People go out and see the Stones every year and they’re not crash hot. There is no Bill and Keith is a skeleton. I hope they rock the house and keep it together because I want to hear some new tunes!
brent | 2/19/2007, 5:12 am EST
Well i guess thats what its like when you get older. they have every right to make a go at it wether its too late or not i suppose. i dont think there trying to sell this as anything more than what it is.
Its not like there trying to fool us or anything, age dont lie they know we know where they stand with all this. nope its not 1984 anymore, its very 2007 and this is the best incarnation of it that they can give us. (well besides the soap opera personal inner band conflict)
No mike but now dave, with son wolfgang thrown in. whos going to tell them they cant do it? either you buy a ticket or you dont. (but some bitching about is still fun)
Honestly i could care less about this whole thing, ill catch some of it on youtube and thats about it really. with no outlay of cash what-so-ever (besides my internet cable bill)

I will say this though, I hope there truly is new music coming from the reunion as well. If it’s only a stage act, I’ll see it once. If there is new music along the way (and if it’s good), then I might consider a return trip to the stadium.

Wolfie’s morning snack would be 4 eggs, 10 hotcakes, 2 t-bone well done steaks, 4 pieces of toast, 2 milkshakes chocolate and vanilla,
4 creme brulees, and 20 pieces of sausage.
That was the snack and now for the meal.
2 whole buffalos, 4 cows, and 30 jars of peanut butter.

whats the fuss about mike ? he played with hagar. didn’t they have an open invite to the vh’s to play with them whenever they wanted.i think the same offer was there on the sam and dave tour.
it just seems eddie thinks he can throw anything at the fans and it will stick. look at gary cherone. i heard eddie say that wolfie would sing if dave wasn’t going to do it.bringing a 15 year old kid ? even if it is his kid.hanson becomes more reputable
i just feel as a fan, let down and that the magics gone.do i like the roth days, sure. but these are not the same roth days. dave is silly now.gameover

What is the big deal about Wolfie on the road? He was with them in ‘04 and everyone thought it was awesome.
Yes, Michael should be back, no question but let’s keep the issues seperate.
Yes it is questionable on Ed’s part but we are not him and might not like the world commenting and judging how we raise our kids if they don’t know all the details.

What makes anybody think that Mike Anthony is so irreplaceable?
Have you ever heard a master bass player like the Who’s John Entwistle or Chris Squire of Yes or Steve Harris of Iron Maiden or Geddy Lee of Rush?
Those guys have formiddable skills and their songs demand it also.
VH music is not complicated for bass players and i bet Wolfie will o a great job because it’s not that complicated.
Maybe some people think that because Anthony had a bass shaped like a jack daniels bottle and ran around like a maniac during his solo made him into a shredder.
Sorry to tell ya but that just doesn’t cut it.
The only part that made Anthony a key player in the band was the sound of his voice and his contributions to the VH harmonies.
So the sound of the vocal harmonies will be a little different ..so what.
The key core players are there and they kick ass.
Dave is back and the chemistry he has with the band will fire him up to excell unlike his solo tours.
VH is going to rock because they have together what they don’t have apart and that’s somethin’ called magic.
That magic can still happen because they’re missing the least important player.
So get ready to rock and don’t judge wolfie as a joke when you haven’t even heard him.
Have you ever heard of child prodigys…because there’s plenty of examples of killer artists already showing major skills very early on and i would not be surpursed at all if his skills are already better than Anthony because Mike’s just good and that’s all.
These are the plain old facts and i bet a crate load of huggies that vH will rock!
Now that’s a lot of HUGGIES MAN!!!!!

Brian Is Back | 2/19/2007, 2:20 am EST
Oh yeah, “The real band is back”. You must be doing smack with Eddie right now.
Oh, sorry to inform you, but Wolfie didn’t even exist in 1984.
Dave is doing this because he is on his last leg. Eddie, as well. This is not the band you saw pre 1984. Look at Eddie, he is so disheveled that they asked him to leave a Guitar Center in Boston on the last tour. No one recognized him. He started eating a sandwich out of his pocket. They thought he was a bum. They asked him to leave.
Dave is now a paramedic. He couldn’t handle a solo career. He can’t hit the notes anymore.Eddie would probably say he never could.
To be truthful, he never could.Eddie never released live material in that era because of that.
If you think there was magic before, you are living a dream.
There is magic now, watch “POOF” Michael anthonys gone.He is now the 15 year old child of Ed and Val. POOF, now your wallet is missing. You have been ripped off by buying a ticket.
Who can really support ANOTHER personel change in Van Halen.
Not I.

What is wrong with a father being involved with his son’s life? Especially if they both share the same passion.
No it is not the norm, but not many have this talent and money. The key is that Wolfie is loved, he is in school and has both parents actively involved.
This tour is in the summer-no school. What an experience for father and son. If he is good, won’t we feel like fools. This really is none of our business. If Al and Val don’t have a problem, and they are certainly closer to the situation, then maybe us know-it-alls should trust them.

Bass Guitar is Basic in Van Halen sound, where is Michael Antony? I cannot image “Sinner Swing ” as Merry go Round sound…. but, Good for them..because what I ear from this newbies rock groups from today..seems like snow white happy birthday songs..ok Go ahead Van Halen.

Poor Mike-Sorry you have to Leave. You have to hang with Sammy and be treated like a class act.

The only thing that could make this any cooler is if they open their concert with “How Many Say I”.

No one made a fuss when Wolfie made a nightly appearance on the ‘04 tour.
For those who only saw the band with Hagar, you DON’T know what you are talking about, the real band is back. Dave makes it Van Halen-Old School. DLR is Jack Daniels, Sammy is Diet Coke.
Give this a chance, then if they pull it off or blow it you can comment on why.

Eddie is the greatest. God bless him… but he’s truly lost his mind. The Sammy era turned out #1 album after #1 album. They truly rocked. NOT ONE Dave album went #1 (not even 1984). Sammy sings. Dave yaks. It’s not Van Roth. Even Eddie said in 1996 that “bringing Dave back would have ripped off our fans.” Well Eddie… you’re now ripping off your fans. Gee, I wonder how long it will be before Dave pisses you off again? A month? 2 months? Dave is a loser. His tour with Sammy in ‘03 proved that. He proves it every time he opens his mouth. Eddie… sober up, wise up, get off the drugs and porn soundtrack kick… and get SAMMY and MIKE back in the band. Then the REAL Van Halen will be back.

Is this the Partridge family or Van F’n Halen ?
Maybe Wolfie has to prop up Eddie, change his diapers, get his alcohol.
What is so
