Uh oh,looks like Capitol Police want to keep Hoos and others from the mall. Capitol Police taking over from National Park Service jurisdiction re parts of the mall.
Unrelated, I wonder how long that project to put new grass and whatever underneath it will take on the mall. It's all fenced in now.

I like old buildings as much as anyone but that Ruined Capitol site is ridiculously one sided and would be better off without the copy.
Also phrases like "When we set out to replace our European and American architectural heritage" always set off warning bells for me like maybe the writer is trying to say something else...

read about this today--really amazed that they didn't even bother putting out an official explanation. i feel like the puzzled quotes in the post article kinda say it all.

So I saw Ian Svenonius' band Chain & the Gang with Heavy Breathing(former members of Apes) at the Black Cat backstage last night. I have to admit I am now officially bored with Ian's between-song chatting and his average singing/talking. But quite a dc scene there last night--Mary Timony (now in Wild Flag); Mark Robinson; Richards & Malitz from the Post; Ian and Alec Mackaye; Erin from Bratmobile; Eli Janney

i meeeeeeeeeeean i don't know that we provoked it per se--especially not by planning #J17 stuff, as I keep hearing--it was already in the spending bill that passed a few weeks ago. it's more troubling development for the long-run than "oh man they're strategizing against us."
