HART MELT IMINNANT

Do WWF/WWE games have swearing in them? The kids want a wrestling game.

(TS Exposing your children to violence vs letting them hear someone say 'asshole', I know)

onimo (nu_onimo), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 13:26 (seventeen years ago) link

They shouldn't, should they? I mean the whole thing is pretty PG I would have thought.

Pash, someday I'll forgive you for leading me on like that with the promise of more missions. It'll take a while though, I hope you understand.

kv_nol (kv_nol), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 15:19 (seventeen years ago) link

No Nintendo products in South Africa now. No distributor, y'see.

I am very sorry, kv_ I do find the missing bits from computer games weirdly fascinating, especially when the gap shows a little bit.

I saw the DVD of the movie of "Doom" in Woolworths this evening. 3.99. I was tempted (for teh lulz) but resisted.

I ordered one anyway - it's rated 16+ but I think it's only for the violence going by the wee symbols.

onimo (nu_onimo), Thursday, 15 February 2007 23:55 (seventeen years ago) link

have been getting back into VCS again, i can't play it for long periods of time though. It's taking forever to finish.

Just finished two bizarre missions: ** SPOILERS **
Domestapod, control the robot around the house performing chores and trying to find the safe. Fucking long winded and hard, play 'mastermind' trying to solve the four digit safe code.

Protect Phil Collins while he's singing In The Air Tonight. HAHA this is like a full live performance of Phil where he walks around the stage singing until he arrives to his drum kit or that kick ass drum riff. Anyway, knock fuck out of the guys trying to unscrew the roof rig that would fall on Phil's sorry head.

Ste (fuzzy), Friday, 16 February 2007 09:16 (seventeen years ago) link

There's no swearing in the WWE games, though in one of the recent ones if somebody went through a table the crowd would chant "HOLY (pause)! HOLY (pause!)"

Okami's alright ennit?

Michael Annoyman (Michael Annoyman), Friday, 16 February 2007 09:23 (seventeen years ago) link

Ste that sounds like a mission I'd enjoy failing!

Well so long as it's only the violence then Noodle :)

this is a mission i may purposefully fail a number of times. (xp)

still stuck on the same two missions i mentioned on the main site - i'm gonna leave it and go back later. i now own ALL the businesses. surely the sharks and bikers should have dissolved by now?

Putting each other through tables?!?!

kv_nol (kv_nol), Friday, 16 February 2007 14:35 (seventeen years ago) link

Pretend tables.

onimo (nu_onimo), Friday, 16 February 2007 14:36 (seventeen years ago) link

Thin balsa wood or something.

onimo (nu_onimo), Friday, 16 February 2007 14:36 (seventeen years ago) link

Actually balsa doesn't break easily does it?

onimo (nu_onimo), Friday, 16 February 2007 14:37 (seventeen years ago) link

no, breakaway props are made with balsa, but they're also built differently from yr avg table/chair/etc.

http://crazymonkeygames.com/Zombie-Horde-3.html - This has been taking most of my afternoon!

Pshaw! Fake tables? Get ye to the kids be pussies thread!

kv_nol (kv_nol), Friday, 16 February 2007 16:11 (seventeen years ago) link

Those breakaway props are a bit expensive. Kids'll need to make do with real steel chairs.

onimo (nu_onimo), Friday, 16 February 2007 16:32 (seventeen years ago) link

ECW would occasionally show what happens when non-gimmicked tables were used, and Fit Finley put his foot thru a formica table in WCW, which cut up his leg/knee so badly it kept him out of the ring for 7 years.

I think half the time they'd just take saws to the thing, and score 'em up real good.

xp watch some backyard wrestling vids to see what happens with that

That's the spirit. I'll skip every post between this one and that one as it's obviously people disagreeing and that's just crazy talk.

there will be a day.

when i have a different job.

and i will never play another sonic the hedgehog game.

sir lord baltimore club music (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 16 February 2007 17:48 (seventeen years ago) link

oooh, which one did you have to wade through? the secret rings?

TOMB07 (trm), Friday, 16 February 2007 17:50 (seventeen years ago) link

is that the DS one?

they be stealin' kingfish's bucket (kingfish), Friday, 16 February 2007 17:52 (seventeen years ago) link

wii play is kinda disappointing in that I seem unable to play billiards sitting down. But racing cows and shooting stuff is good fun.

buns of steel magnolias (m bison), Friday, 16 February 2007 19:32 (seventeen years ago) link

the w11 1 (s3cr3t r1ngus). it's sort of striking in a way.

sir lord baltimore club music (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 16 February 2007 20:12 (seventeen years ago) link

striking, you say?

they be stealin' kingfish's bucket (kingfish), Friday, 16 February 2007 20:16 (seventeen years ago) link

(in the degree to which it doesn't work on a very basic level, i meant)

sir lord baltimore club music (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 16 February 2007 20:20 (seventeen years ago) link

haha Matt I suspect googlers looking for baltimore club music might be just as bad as people looking for prerelease tidbits on boric teh medgehog, but work-rel so I get it.

the DS one was pretty bad, in terms of the difficulty curve. is this one like that, just flat-out completely unchallenging until you run up against something that feels almost impossible, then back to nothing?

TOMB07 (trm), Friday, 16 February 2007 20:25 (seventeen years ago) link

why doesn't the wii version work? that's disappointing to hear

coz larry (bundgee), Friday, 16 February 2007 21:02 (seventeen years ago) link

Prob cos it's a pain in the ass spinning your wrist that quickly...

kv_nol (kv_nol), Friday, 16 February 2007 21:45 (seventeen years ago) link

you steer s0n1c like a car, kind of. (like excit3truck w/a hedgeh0g) then jump by flicking the wiimote, he runs automatically...it's just...really bad...

i keep wondering why they make new games for him, then i see the sales numbers and am flabbergasted by how much they still sell, esp. compared to awesome stuff like okam1 or psych0nauts that are great and do zilch : (

sir lord baltimore club music (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 16 February 2007 22:12 (seventeen years ago) link

(also t0m i'm probably being silly, but one can't be too careful...that's why i hardly ever post in ILG to begiin with)

sir lord baltimore club music (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 16 February 2007 22:13 (seventeen years ago) link

I think Sega is trying to pull some kind of "The Producers"-style insurance scam by making their games as bad as possible.

i'm quite puzzled by Dice & Domino! who woke up in 2007 and said "we need to have a tag team that looks and acts just like ANDREW DICE CLAY!"

sir lord baltimore club music (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 16 February 2007 22:36 (seventeen years ago) link

do you not like the gameplay concept or the execution? the concept seems fine to me, but i haven't played the game.

in japan i bought the ps3 and several games (virtual fighter for ps3) for my husband. woohoo

nathalie (stevienixed), Saturday, 17 February 2007 12:44 (seventeen years ago) link

Sonic has become his own childrens' animated movie that comes out every summer and produces a top-selling AAA title on nothing more than brand recognition, and then sucks ass.

cousin larry I'd say based on the last few additions to the franchise any animal with spiky hair from Sega should be steered well clear of, unless you like throwing money away and hating yourself

TOMB07 (trm), Saturday, 17 February 2007 16:33 (seventeen years ago) link

also seriously I'm going to import this I don't give a flying fuck about the fact I haven't read japanese in 8 years and forgot all of it

Elebits is totally fun, y'all.

forksclovetofu (forksclovetofu), Sunday, 18 February 2007 06:35 (seventeen years ago) link

Hai! I'm sure this has been discussed on ILG before, hell, might have been discussed on this very thread for all I know since I didn't read all of it, but...say you're fiteing a really hard boss, and he keeps kicking your ass over and over again, and you realise that it's gonna take many more tries to beat him, so you turn off the console and chill for a sec...what're some good come-down remedies for that? Cuz I'm in this sort of situation and every time I switch off the console I feel not only frustrated but totally WIRED for like an hour, it's no fun at all :(

TOMB07 (trm), Sunday, 18 February 2007 16:56 (seventeen years ago) link

You mistake is in turning off the console. You're supposed to just keep trying and trying with no breaks at all. An effective technique is to deny yourself basic amenities such as food and water, and bathroom breaks, until you manage to get past the tough part.

Zachary Scott (Zachary S), Sunday, 18 February 2007 17:41 (seventeen years ago) link

And if that doesn't work, pause game and go to sleep. When you awake, you'll be able to magically beat the game in one go.
That's how I finished Shadow of the Colossus and ffx-ffxii
