GOALFLASH: Real Madrid 1-0 Barcelona (Benzema)
2100: Captains Casillas and Puyol have shaken hands, and so have Mourinho and Guardiola, with the Portuguese kneeling down theatrically at the entrance to the tunnel to greet his rival. We have lift-off...

Messi has only scored once a away from home this season. Big game bottler?

this is good.
can't help but feel barca could do with a target man up front. they lack a 35m presence from free kicks.

― SandboxGarda (HI IT'S RONAN), Saturday, 10 December 2011 22:34 (twelve years ago) link
Barca aren't even playing near their best and still are 1-3 up. I expected more from Madrid tbh
― lebateauivre, Saturday, 10 December 2011 22:45 (twelve years ago) link
Iniesta was great again though
― lebateauivre, Saturday, 10 December 2011 22:48 (twelve years ago) link
to clarify my earlier comment, when benzema scooped that shot wide past higuain (i think) the sky commentator said to gerry armstrong: "pomo, gerry, pomo!" which sounded like "homo".
then he said "position of maximum opportunity" and gerry armstrong didn't raise any surprise at thsi, and his tone sounded like it was a stock phrase that everyone knew.
― SandboxGarda (HI IT'S RONAN), Saturday, 10 December 2011 22:55 (twelve years ago) link
Yep, both me and my flatmate thought he said homo. Bizarre
― Number None, Saturday, 10 December 2011 22:58 (twelve years ago) link
I assume it's a regular catchphrase on Sky's Spanish coverage? Fuck knows
likewise, really one of the weirdest things i've ever heard watching a game.

think you're making a diff point? basically my flatmate and myself just had a lol during the game at how amazing it'd be to see andy carroll in a barca shirt.

would love Riise's free kick to have been on target just to see if Vorm would have saved it
al-habsi's save from brunt's booming shot was p cool
alexis sanchez's goal was class start to finish
ineista was amazing, lass reduced to wrestling him to the ground at one point
mourinho losing will never fail to fill me with joyful contentment

spurs dominating possession now, but adebayor looking wasteful and vdv invisible
― mizzell, Sunday, 11 December 2011 16:38 (twelve years ago) link
parker having his worst game for spurs too
― mizzell, Sunday, 11 December 2011 16:43 (twelve years ago) link
vdv and adebayor completely lacking interest, lennon and bale aren't on their toes, walker not one bit bothered about defending either goal, and the ref happy for it to be a physical affair- yep, we're going down here today
― bloating forecast: ruff swells (p much resigned to deems), Sunday, 11 December 2011 16:52 (twelve years ago) link
Shotton just had one of the worst halves of someone purporting to be a professional footballer I've ever seen. He also set up 2 goals by throwing it very far.
VDV has been poor. Why is Bale right and Lennon left?
