once i told a girl she looked like a young liza minelli, which to me was a huge compliment because she was super cute, but the girl only knew old liza. i held my ground and told her to gis because she really looked exactly like her here, ie insanely cute

oh man i made a bad public situation :(

I was in a crowded café and asked an old guy using two tables (one for his bag, one for himself) if maybe I could sit at the table his bag was on. He was all "You're really making things hard for me, there are other seats around. I mean geez, what's wrong with sitting over there?" – and he indicated a seat that was at a table with a baby - "can't you sit on that one?" I said, "uh, okay, if you really need two tables i'll go elsewhere" and walked off. As I was walking off, he said "no, no, come back, I guess I can manage." Two minutes later a seat opened up at the primo directly across from him and I took it now he is scowling at me and looking really miserable with life and I have an irrational desire to buy him a coffee or something and say peace, happy holidays. B/c he is obviously having a shitty day/life.

OTM, I can't wait 'til I'm 85 so I can actually pull off complaining about a $5 copay increase by telling some stranger about every bad thing that has ever happened in my life. That was how I dealt with this very situation when I worked at a call center where mostly olds called. 'Someday, I will get to be this anciently entitled.'

No one ever hit me with a bus, I want to complain deeply and constantly someday.
