I am ready for my plane rides tomorrow.

That's a great selection of games dude. That'll keep you busy for a while.

-- a.b.

What, episode 1?

no, episode 2 (i got it on gametap). it feels like a few puzzles that got left out of the first one.

a.b. (abanana), Friday, 22 December 2006 21:30 (seventeen years ago) link

okay, the DS lite worked well in the airplane, but the Mission mode of Clubhouse Games is fookin' impossible

kingfish in absentia (kingfish), Saturday, 23 December 2006 06:29 (seventeen years ago) link

Just finished Zelda: Twilight Princess on Gamecube. Took about about 40 hours, but like Nicka I've just done the main story. I'll do the rest eventually but I have a whole pile of new DS games to go through.

i'm trying to think of the last japanese rpg that had a compelling narrative. I'm thinking Chrono Trigger, but Xenogears had its charm for all its WTFness.

Man I am so close to being able to beat Guitar Hero 2 on Expert but the last three songs are fucking annoying. I know I can beat each of them but there are just these little passages I can't QUITE get through. :/

got the family to play Ticket to Ride: Marklin last night. Finally got Settlers of Catan and Carcassonne today, so they're next on the list of family compulsion.

kingfish in absentia (kingfish), Monday, 25 December 2006 20:38 (seventeen years ago) link

Totally scored Contact, Rocket Slime and Lego SW II. Thumbs up, japanophile twin-sisters-in-law. Though it may be that Pops-in-law actually made out even better by acquiring Medieval Total War in the bargain.

Contact appears to have possess an extremely poor save system. You can only save by going to your bed on the mothership but there's no teleport-home function. WTF, this is for a PORTABLE, Atlus.

kingfish the answer to the question you posted to the wrong thread is that I have not gotten any of the FF DS ports but FF5 or whatever came out for the GBA two years ago was pretty fun!

I tried to play Elite Beat Agents in Target the other day, I am so old and lame all I could figure out how to do was spin the globe around. As soon as I stopped trying some 12-ish year old kid jumped on it and it started making cool noises that sounded fun, it made me feel old. So then I went and bought some beer and felt slightly better about my life.

anyone happen to be another witness to the Amazon Wii fiasco today?

Allyzay heard you got beat up in a club. (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Friday, 29 December 2006 20:49 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm waiting for them to do another FF6/Chrono Trigger re-issue, unless Sony's got the rights to those for another 5 years.

I did pick up FFTA, but I'm still on the final bosses of the first Golden Sun game, so no go.

What's the story with the Amazon thing, ally?

kingfish in absentia (kingfish), Friday, 29 December 2006 20:53 (seventeen years ago) link

wha happen? I'm about ready to buy by amazon if necessary, barring fiasco.

forksclovetofu (forksclovetofu), Friday, 29 December 2006 20:53 (seventeen years ago) link

(xp) the wii discussion threads filled me in. as always, very disturbing.

shakey mo jopotatoes (bundgee), Friday, 29 December 2006 20:54 (seventeen years ago) link

the discussion threads are HILARIOUS, I killed about an hour after they sold out reading them. The rather numerous people who CALLED Amazon and cursed them out!!! Granted, I think they're kind of right that hording the shipments and then hyping the "release" is really, really lame esp since none of the other online stores are doing that, but FFS you're all presumably adults.

Allyzay heard you got beat up in a club. (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Friday, 29 December 2006 20:57 (seventeen years ago) link

(I happened upon the Amazon page while trying to kill time at work and showed up at basically the exact moment they went on sale, I had no idea beforehand)

I'm not saying anything of the sort.

Allyzay heard you got beat up in a club. (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Friday, 29 December 2006 21:05 (seventeen years ago) link

ie by the time I went and clicked the purchase button about 1.5 seconds later, they were gone. Amazon apparently only had like 500 of them which seems like a lot to me except that they probably had 50,000 people waiting all morning, hitting F5.

Allyzay heard you got beat up in a club. (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Friday, 29 December 2006 21:06 (seventeen years ago) link

I did love the dredging back up of the dynamic IP sales system bashing. IF YOU LIVE ON THE EAST COAST YOU HAVE NO CHANCE ON AMAZON, PEOPLE. NONE.

THe PS3's took at least 5 minutes to sell out, btw, since you have been keeping tabs on such things. I was truly that bored, that I sat there, refreshing every once and a while, after those babies went on sale. We could've hada $700 piece of crap, baby!

Allyzay heard you got beat up in a club. (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Friday, 29 December 2006 21:08 (seventeen years ago) link

ha, ok. wtf amazon, watch and learn a little.

I had kind of a nightmare last night that we got a PS3 and it was exactly a $700 POS, I was like "there is nothing I want to play on this ugly thing. I would rather have an actual waffle iron. Jesus, this is sad."

If you ain't eatin' WHAM, you ain't eatin' HAM (trm), Friday, 29 December 2006 21:10 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm not sure why they switched from the lottery back to this free-for-all to be honest. Oh, BEST #1 ALL TIME comment on the asylum irc roomdiscussion board: person advocating a priority system in which people who have had Amazon accounts the longest get Wiis and other high-demand items first, because she "has been a loyal customer since 2004 and deserves a better chance than others." 2004, ORLY?! Yes, you would be the first in line in that system, obviously.

I had a nightmare last night that Justine was coming to kill me andI had to hide in a fridge, man up on your nightmares you pussy.

speaking of $700 pieces of crap, i just stumbled upon this today:

kingfish in absentia (kingfish), Friday, 29 December 2006 21:12 (seventeen years ago) link

false cat (sleep), Friday, 29 December 2006 21:16 (seventeen years ago) link

There's a PS3 (20 gig) that just ended on eBay for $490. And a 60 gig that just ended at...$700. LOL

sucks and stole Christmas away from two little boys I saw crying in EB Games.

I'm glad that his Wii auction I clicked on to see a Wii end price went for $310. Enjoy your ~$30 profit, asshole.

My favorite thread on the amazon wii page has to be the one where some creep asked all of the other creeps to pray for some kid that had cancer or something.

shakey mo jopotatoes (bundgee), Friday, 29 December 2006 21:22 (seventeen years ago) link

I liked the guy who "accidentally" bought three today and then tried to scalp them right on the discussion board. For more than what the marketplace sellers were asking, I might add. Now that is cajones.
