One time I picked up a hot pan off the dinner table and then yelled at my mom for not telling me it just came out of the oven. The next night everything on the table – serving bowls, pots and pans, glasses, plates – had a post-it note with her handwriting on it indicating its temperature:

Tonight I was making a grilled sandwich in a cast iron skillet and I stepped away from it to get the Blu Ray player warmed up(Netflix streamin takes forever to load) and got sucked into fixing a problem with the ethernet cable.

Later I was reading some article online when the smoke alarm starting bleeting. When I looked up, the kitchen and living room were thick with smoke and my sandwich was charcoal. And it was hard to find the fucking smoke detector. It is tucked behind a light fixture outside the bathroom.

- wd probly have been better off with Frankenhooker all things considered

I meant to say that the reason I smell the burning sandwich that filled the room I was in with smoke for like 5 minutes was that I have no sense of smell.

lol Jesse, I was going to say - that's pretty good evidence that your sense of smell, which I know you had recently said you might be getting back, is still gone.

I'm seriously dismayed at the orange-ness of the "red" paint I just put on one window-frame. Trying to decide whether to do 2nd coat and see if the color firms up, or just go back and buy a quart of another color. Damn.

I've been taking a shower only once every 3-4 days for the last few months. And I sleep in my clothes. I need a job or a reason to meet with people regularly, quick, before I turn into Pigpen.

on the bike ride home i saw a beautiful cat, dead on the side of the road. looked like it just happened.

saddest fucking thing

today, the 6th of december, is the day i took out my air conditioner

every time i see that kind of thing i just feel so terrible. cats especially but birds, deer, raccoons. a squirrel was dead on the bike path i run on. it was totally intact. i always think its family is going to be wondering about it and they'll be sad and their brains can't comprehend what happened its just unexplained suffering. i also hit a bird with my car and saw in my mirror it was fluttering its wings weakly as it hit the road life is so sad

The weather here was kind of nice (for December in Chicago) but you could feel the threat of the brutal cold to come in the air. I kind of love it.

There was a cat the other day spawled on a foothpath near my place that was... dreadfully still, and my bf said "oh yeah that cat was there when I came up here on the way to yr house" which was even more WTF, I was like "ARE YOU SURE ITS NOT DEAD FFS", it was just kind of lying there, middle of the pavement. He said it was just sleeping and he'd patted it earlier. It looked pretty immobile to me, and it was STILL there when we came back past a couple hours later. It is going to bug me forever not knowing if it was ok or not.

(it did just look asleep, but still.. ugh)
