I was at this one place Saturday that had no Wiis, GBAs, DSs, even GCs, but had one GameBoy Micro. It was cuet!

Also I am finding Wii remotes harder to track down than actual Wiis.

even at all the suburban EB/Gamestop/Gamecrazy places?

kingfish in absentia (kingfish), Monday, 18 December 2006 18:54 (seventeen years ago) link

for the first 10-15 years of my life, i would have killed for this game.

Now, I can only wish it upon the next generation.

OH OH ALSO: I played the Wii Sonic game the other day at EB, it is fucking BODACIOUS.

Wow, it must be pretty fucking good to warrant use of such a word, dude.

teh_kit (g-kit), Monday, 18 December 2006 19:07 (seventeen years ago) link

Does the DS have any fun little shmups?

kingfish in absentia (kingfish), Monday, 18 December 2006 20:45 (seventeen years ago) link

i want that sonic game

cousin larry bundgee (bundgee), Monday, 18 December 2006 20:54 (seventeen years ago) link

Who has Clubhouse Games? I wanna play it with peoples.

teh_kit (g-kit), Monday, 18 December 2006 20:56 (seventeen years ago) link

I wanna get it. Is it worth it?

kingfish in absentia (kingfish), Monday, 18 December 2006 21:00 (seventeen years ago) link

It's a good travelling game. Even better if you're travelling with another DSer.

Also, I found it really useful a number of times to check the rules of a bunch of card games when I went on holiday last year.

teh_kit (g-kit), Monday, 18 December 2006 21:04 (seventeen years ago) link

wii weather channel now working in uk. can't see myself using it very often, but its beautifully put together - kind of like google earths baby brother. japan seems to have red suns even though its not that hot!??!

zappi (zappi), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 09:57 (seventeen years ago) link

WE NEARLY BROKE THE TELLY! The fucking strap broke when it slid out of his hands! Knocked against the corner of the telly and we were all "WTFshit!WADDAwedonow?" Didn't stop me from playing again yesterday. My Wii physical age is 47. ROFFLICIOUS!

nathalie (stevienixed), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 09:58 (seventeen years ago) link

also : weather reports from mount everest & the south pole!!
my wii physical age is 42. i think their being generous :/

zappi (zappi), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 10:05 (seventeen years ago) link

If only it had been 60 then I could RETIRE and play forever.

nathalie (stevienixed), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 10:07 (seventeen years ago) link

I can't get over how much the DS Lite screen pwns the DS Phat screen. The colours on Phat look SO washed out.

teh_kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 10:09 (seventeen years ago) link

:-( fwok. maybe i need that as well.

nathalie (stevienixed), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 10:10 (seventeen years ago) link

Wish me luck peeps - tomorrow I am braving an JB HiFi that sez it is getting new Wii stock. I am going in the morning, but if I see a queue or fites or BB guns or something I'm not bothering. The lad can bloody wait!

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 12:21 (seventeen years ago) link

The colours on Phat look SO washed out.

Too true. Which is a shame cos handling wise I much prefer DS PHAT. The lite is like a crappy iPod thingy.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 12:22 (seventeen years ago) link

I recommend DS Home Surgery, Trayce.

teh_kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 12:29 (seventeen years ago) link

Wot? That sounds scary.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 12:30 (seventeen years ago) link

got my 360 yesterday, played 1 hour of Viva Pinata and turned it off. Boring. Im not into any games besides sports games much anyways. although i hear good things about elder scrolls and a few other games....i'll probably rent.

thebingo (thebingo), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 12:44 (seventeen years ago) link

Ooh get Elder Scrolls. It is fab.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 12:46 (seventeen years ago) link

I used to love games like Kings Quest when I was a kid. Are there games like that now? Im big into medieval games, knights etc. Any ideas for the 360?

thebingo (thebingo), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 13:03 (seventeen years ago) link

Oblivion, maybe? It's more Fantasy though. You're best off looking at PC games for that kind of thing (if you have a gaming PC, obv).

teh_kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 13:10 (seventeen years ago) link

My kids were fighting about a Lego Star Wars 2 game yesterday and ended up pulling the PS2 off the shelf and scratching the disk to fuck. Now LSW2 doesn't load and the machine's making funny whirring noises (or maybe it always has and I've just noticed because of what happened) loading other games :(

They've been banned from gaming for a week.

Anyway, scratch repair thingies: do they work or do I need to buy a new game?

Onimo has his finger in the stink (nu_onimo), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 13:47 (seventeen years ago) link

uh oh....how old is the ps2? i went through 4 of them since they came out all with the same problem...the dreaded disc read error. this may be a sign of things to come with your PS2...the whirring noise is one of the signs...

thebingo (thebingo), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 13:55 (seventeen years ago) link

Never tried one, so I'm as curious as you.

No gaming for a week? HARSH.
Surely you could've been a little less severe. No food for a week or something?

teh_kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 14:01 (seventeen years ago) link

A week is a bit much! Come on!

nathalie (stevienixed), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 14:04 (seventeen years ago) link

I came home from work to discover all this and their mother had already decided on the week long ban (which ends in time for new XMas games!).

The PS2 is ancient, one of the old fat ones. I've had it for years and it was 2nd hand when I got it :) I tried a number of disks and they all loaded apart from the LSW2 game that was spinning in the drive when it was dropped and got scratched.

Mark wrote me a Christmas card with "Happy Christmas Dad. I'm very sorry for breaking your Playstation" and gave me it with tears welling up in his eyes and I felt terrible and wanted to go buy him a new Lego Star Wars game but the wife wouldn't let me. They've got to learn a lesson, apparently. She's right of course but it still sucks and it also means _I_ don't get to play Lego Star Wars until they save up for a replacement.

Onimo has his finger in the stink (nu_onimo), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 14:10 (seventeen years ago) link

omg wai 2 brake kit's hart with Xmas card story, Onimo?

teh_kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 14:14 (seventeen years ago) link

It was like that Calvin (from '& Hobbes') face when he's done something really bad and is scared to tell his Dad ;_;

Onimo has his finger in the stink (nu_onimo), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 14:17 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah, I use that face on Kat all the time.

teh_kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 14:19 (seventeen years ago) link

uh oh; I've now taken up trolling the local CL for used GBA/DS games in advance of getting my DS on thursday.

This won't end well.

kingfish in absentia (kingfish), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 16:15 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh, btw, after a hardcore online session last night, I totally recommend Clubhouse Games for DS. Multiplayer is awesomes fun, even with total randoms. I laid down some hardcore Darts pwnj on allcomers last night.

teh_kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 16:18 (seventeen years ago) link

submitted for your consideration: NPR posted a list of kid-friendly games

(includes Elite Beat Agents, so it's probably good enough)

kingfish in absentia (kingfish), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 16:50 (seventeen years ago) link

Are you saying I'm immature? :o

teh_kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 16:52 (seventeen years ago) link

I am excited about finally beating Guitar Hero 1 on Expert and getting to the final five songs of Guitar Hero 2!

Michael (Oakland Mike), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 17:10 (seventeen years ago) link

I wound up buying Marvel: Ultimate Alliance even though my knowledge of that canon is fairly marginal: I know that some of their characters are hilariously weird (MODOK!) and Spider-Man is a lot cooler in his funnybook context than he is in the daily newspaper comics. So it's sort of a crash course in Marvel Comics lore, and getting to form your own team is fun, as is beating the crap out of supervillains with Luke Cage and Ghost Rider.

Anybody here with experience of X3: The Reunion? This shit is impenetrable.

tissp! (tissp!), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 17:17 (seventeen years ago) link

I've often been tempted to buy X2 and now X3 in the past, but always back out due to lack of joystick.
